After purchasing poor quality furniture from a few different stores in the past, I was apprehensive when I bought this, the matching night stand, and the matching coffee table. Reviews I read on all these products said that this item didn't take stain well, but that is not what I experienced- it may be because I happened to want lightly colored furniture. I sanded each shelf portion of my furniture pieces to begin with, prepared them with pre-stain wood conditioner, then applied stain in the color 'summer oak', finishing with wipe-on polyurethane. I did not need more than the smallest can of stain to finish all three pieces- with some left over for future pieces that i may very well be ordering soon. We used a spray gun to apply the white paint to the sides of each piece. If I could do it differently, I think I would have taken the time to also sand the sides to help the spray paint go on a little smoother- but I'm not unhappy with the way that these turned out regardless.I did have to return a coffee table as it came with deep scratches and dings, but return was quick, easy, and I didn't have to pay shipping! I received my replacement in about 6 days which is about the same amount of time it took for the pieces to be delivered to my home in San Diego in the first place. These pieces are nice and sturdy, which meant I (a 5'2" 160lb woman) had to struggle a little bit to carry them by myself after they were all made, but I was able to do so.Pros: - Real wood- easy to sand, paint, and stain ( I used Varathane Premium Wood Stain in Summer Oak and wipe-on Poly in Clear Satin) - Fast shipping - Quick return and exchange (you don't need to pay for return shipping if a piece is scratched or ruined)Cons: - Some parts may need to be sanded as most of these pieces had some amount of wood-glue that seeped through during manufacturing - You might end up broke because you realize you want to purchase the rest of this product line after purchasing this product.

Love Love Love this table. I painted it a cream color and sanded it for a rustic look and it came out beautifully. We didn't use the middle shelf as we had taller items for the bottom shelf. The price was right but worth more. I shopped around for a long time for this size table with a little character to it and this fit the bill. It's sturdy and easy to put together. We used wood glue to make sure it stayed together. Painting the sides after it was together was not easy so maybe try it before you assemble it..Might be easier. But I love the look of it. I also liked the fact that I could chose to stain or paint the table.

This table is beautiful and you can not beat the price! And the item arrived almost 2 weeks earlier than expected, which was a great surprise! The expected date was the week of Jan 2nd, but it ended up being delivered on Dec 23rd!I purchased the unfinished product and like some reviews stated, it takes stain beautifully. The stain I used was Minwax Special Walnut. I did not need to sand anything, just brush off some excess dust before I stained the pieces.Here are a couple photos, one of the stain comparison and one of the finished product. I cannot wait to actually decorate this table how I want - I just threw some things on to take a photo. :)If you have a wall for this table and are contemplating buying, don't think. Go for it! You will not regret it!

I'm so happy with this shelf, easy to put together, looks great unstained, but I stained mine and it looks beautiful. wood is very sturdy , and the price was better than other places I compared it to

Couldn't have been happier! Beautiful, very sturdy, only took me 25 min. to put together by myself. I'm using it as a tv stand. Comparable to what I've seen in stores for $800+. You also can stain it/paint it however you'd like. I stained mine with a light oak stain. BUY IT!

Table itself is in good quality, heavy and stable, easy to put up together. But there is problem with the hardware it comes with, out of four metal brackets that support the middle shelf, one piece is different from others, doesn't have the support bar that can snap into the side frame. So as result, it totally not usable, and the middle shelf can't be assembled. Contacted Amazon and the manufacture, neither can send the right hardware piece. The only option is to replace the whole package, which is too much of trouble, since I already assembled the rest of the table. So I had to go to Home Depot and find a alternative piece to put the middle shelf in place. Because of this, I only gave 3 start rating for the product.
