Though I don't know Joe Fig personally, I can relate to his passions to make art and his insatiable curiosity about the workings of the creative process itself. The artists he interviews are not necessarily chosen for their stature in the art world, though several have high profile careers, rather each one presents a unique perspective on how and why they became an artist as well as what drives their creative engines. For me, this isn't a book on any one medium or artistic ideology, it's a book that celebrates the nature of artmaking through the eyes of fellow artists, and that's what makes it inspiring to read.I also want to point out how impressed I am with the paintings and dioramas Joe creates. He is not only a highly skilled craftsman with a keen eye for minute detail and nuance, he is able to capture a sense of place and intangible qualities of the artist's personalities that go well beyond his mastery of the mediums he uses! I also recommend his first book, Inside the Painter's Studio, that is equally intriguing and rich in inspiration.

Good book

Very cool insight into various artists and their studios and how they work.

I was disappointed because I had no interest in some of the art and artists he selected, e.g. video art.

Arrived safely and is a great read.

As with his other book 'inside the painters studio' this seems to be a book to show his own work, not impart a great deal of information. I personally didnot relate to most of the work shown and can not say I would recommend this book.

Stunning photos and fascinating insights into the world of the modern-day artists. He asks some really interesting questions that inspire anyone hoping to start a career in the arts.

Lovely book, swift delivery

Beautiful book on artists , their practices and their creative spaces. This is the second book by the artist Joe Fig and it was as inspiring to read and explore as his first one.
