Question 1

When using with a turntable, does the sound quality replicate to other sonos speakers (such as the one sl), or does it sound digitized?

Accepted Answer

Hi there. While the audio stream is converted to a digital signal the sound that is output can vary depend on a couple of things like the audio format of the vinyl and the audio settings in the Sonos app. You can also tell Sonos to play compressed or uncompressed streams which will change how it sounds too. Once you start playing your vinyl collection, you can group the Sonos speakers/products in the Sonos app to play the same audio stream to all Sonos products, or select Sonos products. Cheers.

Question 2

So the Sonos-5 is basically a high priced bluetooth speaker?

Accepted Answer

Hello. The Sonos Five does not feature a Bluetooth audio connection. Instead, it takes advantage of your home’s WiFi network, allowing for enhanced audio quality, synchronized grouping with other Sonos products, and many other benefits. The Sonos Five also features a 3.5mm analog line-in connection. This allows the speaker to play music from devices with an analog output, such as turntables, CD players, and computers.

Question 3

Where is this speaker made?

Accepted Answer

We Americans love our profit and cheap labor. We like to have it both ways. So you can guess that these aren’t made in US or Europe

Question 4

is this totally alexa compatible? Can I stream via alexa app to all my alexa devices including this sonos 5 at the same time?

Accepted Answer

Alexa enabled devices, like an Echo, can be used to start and stop playback, and control basic playback functionality to Sonos speakers. While it isn’t currently possible to group Sonos speakers with first party Alexa devices (Echo, Dot, etc.), you can connect an Echo device through line-in to the Sonos Five to stream music together as a work around. Our customer experience team would be happy to help you out with setting that up. You can contact them with the details on our support page.
