Fliptomania Morphing Flipbook (Large Size)

This is a GREAT M.C.Escher Metamorphosis flipbook!! There is a small version available. (I have reviewed that flipbook as well). NOTE: Amazon has put the WRONG PICTURE on this listing. It is NOT a Beatles flipbook!! I went to a lot of trouble trying to get the picture corrected, but obviously, all my efforets were in vain. If you look under Flipmania Escher Flipbook (small version), you can view what the cover of the Escher flipbook looks like. The large version has the same cover. The 2 Escher flipbooks are exactly the same except for their size. This larger version is 4"X 6". It really brings Escher's Metamorphosis' illustration to life! As you flip the pages, bumblebees change into black bugs which change into blackbirds. Then fish begin to appear. The blackbirds get bigger as the fish become more detailed. The fish get bigger as the blackbirds disappear. Soon the birds reappear as doves and the fish finally begin to disappear. The doves continue on, flying alone. So magical!! I highly recommend it.

MC Escher’s work has been plastered on all sorts of objects: wrapping paper, mugs, puzzles, prints and calendars. Those flat-plane formats work because Escher’s work magically transcends the one-dimensional spatial realm. But turning his art into a flipbook is the best medium in which to exhibit his illustrative illusion of movement and form. I own both sizes of this flip. The standard size presents a smaller and quicker transition between the images. The expanded field of the larger size allows a slower and more thoughtful flip while retaining the illusion of both movement and transformation. You can really explore Escher’s genius in slo-mo.

Used this is the classroom with a fourth grader who was doing research on MC Escher. We both loved it! She used it in a presentation to the other students and they thoroughly enjoyed the flipbook!

It is NOT a Beatles flipbook, as the picture would suggest...however, if you like BUGS, this is the flip book for you :(

I ordered two of them. I got bugs too! The question would be, how do you get the Beatles?
