Bell Flat Defense Hybrid Gravel Bike Tire

Easy installation. Rolls nicely and after a dozen rides, no flats. Good choice if you live around goat heads. Tread wraps around. I ride a Specialized Crosstrail Sport on mostly streets and dirt paths. Definitely recommend.

After looking at the cost of tires at my bike shop, I looked at what was on Amazon... Having at least some knowledge of Bell, I checked these out. Not needing something fancy these were worth a try. They were very easy to put on, look really nice and unbeatable costs. Will buy again just to have spares.

Here’s a fact most bike riders know to be true - tires you get straight from the factory on any given bike will be sure to fail within the first couple hundred miles. In addition, the tread is often “safety” oriented, I.e., an all-purpose design meant to keep you planted on the ground while not necessarily worrying about rolling resistance. The tread on these Bell tires is best described as hybrid. Good for general road use but I wouldn’t recommend them for gravel or off-road usage. If you’re looking for a lightweight tire, you might want to go elsewhere. Possibly because of the thicker rubber compound, these are hefty, to say the least. In fact, these are the heaviest bike tires I’ve ever come across in this size range - and I’ve been riding bikes for 60 years. These are rated at 50 to 75 psi but I generally keep them around 60. Gives the proper amount of rolling resistance I’m looking for without worrying about premature tread wear due to inflation at the maximum level. And there is definitely no arguing with the price. I seriously doubt you can find this tire for $20 anywhere else!

Great tire for mixed pavement and gravel riding. Easy to install, rolls smoothly on the road, and provides solid grip on light gravel. Flat defense seems to work well so far.

Never Had a foldable Tire before but surprizingly enough it fit well .Looks good and is of good Quality and easily mounted quicky no issues.Tire functions well on multiple Road conditions and speeds .I've Rode it around and I'm happy with the purchase and would buy again.

I like these tires...they are a bit fatter than my old tires and way more durable....the thickness was immediately noticeable. I've only been on five rides since I put them on, but I'm completely stoked with them so far. Great price. Would recommend.

Tire worked great and replaced a damaged tire on the bike.

UPDATE: have 130 miles on tires now, front isn't worn much but rear is getting lower on tread. Think I'm gonna get 200-2250 miles total on the rear before I need to replace the rear. I'm prob 200lbs with all my gear. Riding bike on mix of tarmac 35%, gravel 50%, dirt 15% of the miles. No flats yet and tires still are rolling round and true) Down to 4 stars due to the quick wear. A good value if you need a replacement or just don't ride much. I'm putting more miles than expected and will likely try a more pricy tire next. I measured mine to be closer to 41.5-42mm with calipers at the wide part of tread, these were the 700x40mm tires. Mounted on 19mm Inner width rims, so plan for more than the 40mm width. Tread looks great for gravel, good enough for dry/damp dirt for sure too. We'll see how it lasts, but seems like a bargain. Tires mounted well and seem uniform with no real high spots or wobble. I mounted on a budget gravel bike build. Good to try if you are building a gravel bike or need a 40mm grippy tire and want to start cheap. No flats with over 100 miles on them! Running about 50-60psi rear. 40 or so in front

When I frist got these I was worried they wouldn't fit a classic bicycle. They fit great and look good would recommend for any classic bicycle.

Ya llevo muchos km con estas llantas y se sienten bastante bien, las he metido en cerro y en ciudad, lluvia y noble han fallado, si me he pinchado pero si le han resistido muy bien 2023, actualizo la reseña, ya por fin me las acabe, me han gustado mucho duraron 3 años y muchas rodadas tanto en carretera como en sendero, alguna vez las metí en montaña y funcionaron bastante bien, espero las pongan a la venta de nuevo y compraré 2 pares

These tires have a nice fine knob pattern, are much sticker than most, and really shine on the busted up urban roads. Most of the other 700c narrow tires are fairly slick, and despite being labelled as urban or city tire they really perform poorly on city streets. Lots of pavement holes and cracks, train tracks, curbs, slippery spots etc. They probably perform well in the south of France on fresh asphalt, but not here. These on the other hand are great, thanks Bell!

Al principio dudé por los pocos comentarios que encontré pero por el precio son una muy buena opción híbrida, tienen buen tacto y buen agarre y el plus es la cara lateral reflejante y el kevlar. Algo que me encantó es que el dibujo cubre toda la rueda incluyendo los laterales, lo que asegura un muy buen agarre en las curvas y en todas las condiciones. Llegaron en tiempo.
