Wrights Simplicity Bias Tape Machine, an awesome little gadget !
If you sew very much, then you probably use, and possibly even make your own Bias Tape. I purchased this because I normally make all of my own Bias tape myself. This little gadget takes the majority of the work out of making it, and allows you to make your own easily. It comes with a 1" attachment, so if you want to make any other sizes then you also need to purchase the size attachments you need, and make sure that you read whether it is single or double fold Bias Tape. It really doesn't matter to me that its single fold, the one one is easily sewn without the fold. All you have to do is cut the fabric to the size specified on the back of the attachment, start it through the attachment, from there it feeds it through, and folds it, & at the same time it presses it, so it takes the work out of making it, and cuts your expense of purchasing ready made Bias Tape. I either never had it when I needed it, or if I buy it it rarely matches the way I want it to, or the color I need isn't in stock. The cost of this awesome little gadget will quickly pay for itself, by allowing you to make your own & be happier with the colors matching. The fact that it's so easy to use o use & so quickly runs it through & Presses it for you is reason enough for me to purchase it. You will have a lot more time to sew other things. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who sews, in case you didn't already get the message, 😀😀 I Love it !

Great Little Gadget!
I have only used the 1" tip that came with the machine but I have had awesome results! I love it! The machine is very easy to use and makes a nice finished product. Just make sure to press and starch the seams on the bias strips before inserting them into the machine and you should not have any problems! I just wish they made a 2" tip so you could make 1" double fold bias tape. Oh, well. We can't have every thing we want =( You should also note that the machine only makes single fold bias tape. You can make double fold by folding the single fold strips over lengthwise and pressing them with your iron.

pretty helpful
works great with some caveats. Important to trim seams and press open with some sort of pressing spray. Accuracy in cutting the width is also important. Cut it too wide and it wil bunch up. Cut it too narrow, and the folds will not be even, or even happen. I had a very short learning curve on this machine. I have not tried to make anything smaller than 1/2" tape. This thing is fast! I now have way more tape than I can use!!

What a time saver!
This is a wonderful piece of equipment. It does exactly what it says it will do. Very little in the way of instructions. If you have somewhat of a mechanical mind, you should be able to figure it out and make it do what you need. Since receiving I have made yards and yards of bias tape, much of it double fold. This takes a little experimentation, there are no directions for double fold. Even on the internet the videos are attempting to do it in different ways. Probably each user will have to experiment and decide what would work best for them. Just operating the machine and having the bias flow out the other side makes me smile. At the cost of purchased bias tape and the lack of colors available this is a wonderful alternative. Should pay for itself in a very short time.

Does not truly make bias tape.
If you are looking to buy this machine in order to make custom bias tape or to simply save money on bias tape by making your own, or already make your own tape but want it to save time, do not waste your money! The description says:Easy as 1-2-3. 1. Cut bias strips and wind on spindle. 2. Easy-to-use feed-though tip 3. Make perfect bias tape every time-no more burned fingers! Their are actually 10 steps instead of 3. Wind on the spindle: Sounds easy enough, right? You hand wind the fabric on the spindle while trying to keeping the fabric from turning and keeping it going straight on the spindle at the same time. You will then put the fabric over the guide bar and place the guides on each side of the fabric. That easy to feed-though tip isn't so easy. Yes, it does feed though well After you use a long straight pin, tweezers or a Little Foot That purple Thang or something else, to feed the fabric into the tip and then work with it until you get the fabric to come out the end of the tip without the fabric twisting or folding. Once all that is done, then yes, the tip feeds really well. Unless you have several continuous yards of cut fabric, then imagine having to do this with 20 strips of fabric. You will then lock the tip on the machine. Next you will need to remove the heat plate cover and set it aside. You will then pull the bias tape until it is in front of the roller and then replace the heat plate cover. Plug up the machine, select the setting, turn on the machine and wait for the iron to heat up. Once the green light is on the iron is ready. Press the run button to start the machine. Now, that perfect bias tape which ready to use right off the machine is anything but prefect. You will need to pull out that ironing board and iron out and start ironing, because the fabric comes out with barely folded fold on each side of the fabric. It does not fold the middle fold at all. With bias tape it actually has three folds. Each side of the fabric has a nice crisp fold and then the middle is folded. This machine does not do the middle fold. It does not do nice crisp folds at all. I was so very disappointed with this machine.

Great Little Machine
I purchased this machine almost 2 years ago. I use it regularly and it's still running like a champ. Along with the machine, I purchased the 1 1/4" & 1 1/8' so I could easily make French Fold quilt bindings. Also purchased at the same time was the Winder Machine. Set up & used together, these two machines will make the folds and wind them up at the same time. After using this machine for about a year, I found that winding the fabric onto the roller and over top of the guide was a waste of time. I get much faster & better results by hanging on to the pile of binding while letting the machine fold & press. I highly recommend this machine for anyone who has burned their fingers making binding or bias tape, or anyone who makes a lot of quilt binding.

The lack of heat leaves me cold.
A bit pricey considering all the extras I had to purchase separately. Needed it primarily for making bias binding for my quilt projects. I was so excited at the prospect of making the homemade bias binding process easier that I started using it the same day it arrived. I had precut all of my bias cotton fabric strips and sewn them into one long strip in anticipation of this machine arriving at my doorstep. I followed the instructions to the letter, even allowed it to preheat before sending the fabric rolling through it. I was fairly disappointed in the results. Even on its hottest setting it did not get hot enough to keep the fabric folded. It also feeds the fabric through so quickly, that its basically impossible to make it work "as advertised". I even went as far as trying a synthetic fabric on the cotton setting to see if that made it more usable, to no avail. Its just ok at its intended purpose. I have to iron back over the bias tape with my standard iron to get the folds to properly set. So basically it does speed up the process a little but the price does not justify this.

Stunningly accurate and useful!
I was using the Simplicity The Winder Machine with the heavily starched bias binding and was thrilled. Then I thought I better capture this on video to share. This is the first time (12/22/2012) I've used both the winder and the Simplicity Bias Tape Machine . The instructions said to turn them on together when I was making the bias and it worked perfectly. In the video I am using the Simplicity 3/4-Inch Single Fold Bias Tape Machine Tip . All the packaging materials say to use twice the width of your desired finished size, so my tape is 1 1/2 inches wide. As I wrote, I starched the bias tape heavily both before I cut it and then after stitching the lengths together. The machine had no problem ironing the joints. This is going to be such a benefit for me. I made about 15 feet of bias tape in less than three minutes. Yes, you read that correctly. I hope you find this review useful. A heartfelt thanks go out to all the comprehensive reviewers who helped me make my decision to purchase this machine. I adore both machines!
