YOUR CHOICE, not mine
i will admit that the package was perfect, even the bottle is first rate. i know that everyone's taste is different from the next boke's. i drink my whiskey/rum straight up, once in awhile a little ice, but no mixes of any type. this is nothing more than flavored water. very lite taste almost no bite in either the whiskey/rum alternatives. i have wated good money for colored and flavored water. i tried to mix this half and half with So.Comort, did nothing, but ruin the real stuff. i wasn't about to waste a good whiskey with mixing it with water. to me this is not worth the investigation. if i had to drink this instead of the real thing, i would stop drinking. cool-aid tastes better.

The best of all the fake whiskeys I tried
Tastes real, and decent, but a little watery and no burn. They will never be able to get the real burn, you can simulate it with capsaicin powder, or ginger syrup, but those definitely change the flavor a lot. If you want neat or on-the-rocks, this is OK but not perfect. Useful for ceremonial participation if you're not drinking. I did mix with ginger syrup a bit and came to like the mixture. This would go great in a mixer like an old fashioned or manhattan, and also you could cut this 50-50 with real whiskey for a lower-alcohol spirit.

A good effort; not what I hoped for.
Other reviewers have really covered this: it tastes watery, and not really much like bourbon at all. We tried it in whisky sours, whisky and soda, and old fashioned. There's a small bit of bite in the final part of the finish, but if you're looking for bourbony flavor, try something else. It doesn't taste bad--it's just not particularly interesting, and it's quite costly. I truly hope these guys keep at it--I'd love a bourbon-like NA product, and I'd pay this price to get it. This just isn't it.

Sweet Tea, Not Whiskey, Okay with Modifications
I did not like this at all out of the bottle. It's nothing like whiskey. There's no burn, but that was expected. To me it was sweet, floral, slightly herbal, and slightly tart - flavors I do not associate with whiskey. I thought it tasted strongly of diluted sweet tea with a bit of old lemon juice. I do not like sweet tea. I also got the Lyre's Apertif Rosso and Italian Orange, both of which I liked. But I regret following Lyre's recipes for their Manhattan and Boulevardier. The American Malt was overpowering in both those drinks and - for me - ruined them. Even the Italian Orange and Angostura bitters were overpowered by that sweet tea flavor. This was almost one-star review. However, I experimented by adding 5 cinnamon sticks 4 dashes of black walnut bitters to the bottle. I think that made it MUCH better. It still doesn't really taste like whiskey, but it's much closer and mixes well with ginger ale. I haven't tried any other NA whiskeys, so I don't know how this stacks up. But if you're desperate for NA whiskey, then you might be able to settle for it with significant modifications like I did. Otherwise, just save a buck and pick up sweet tea.

A decent alternative, with help.
I'll preface this review with I'm not looking to quit drinking alcohol. I'm a daily whiskey drinker wanting to cut back. I enjoy the act of drinking. Seeing a wonderful amber glass with a clear ice sphere, holding it and sipping it, it's a soothing experience. I've ordered a few brands and this was the first to come. I don't feel like they're trying to market this as a straight up whiskey replacement. One of the pictures even says "made for mixing". Here goes. On its own, visually it looks right. Has a nice amber color. I feel like the vicousity seems right. The smell, I was pleasantly surprised. After reading reviews here, I was expecting garbage and the smell of wet dog. It was pretty decent. There's definitely a prevalent sweet smell, but not enough to ruin the experience. Taste, on its own is just ok. The real taste experience is towards the end of the sip. The start is quite watery. The sweet taste is there, I'd prefer if it weren't as sweet but this leads me to how this is a great product with a little help from friends. First I got a glass. In went a few drops of Angostura bitters for some bite. Then I added a few drops of Scrappy's Bitters fire tincture for some heat. You can order that right here on Amazon. Then I did 1 oz of whiskey, 2 to 3 oz of Lyre's, give it a stir, drop in a clear ice sphere and enjoy. I find that to be a very enjoy solution. Is it straight whiskey? No. But I am enjoying that recipe and the result is I'm consuming 1/3 to 1/4 the amount of alcohol I would with just whiskey and I'm not losing the enjoyment.

Steer clear from this
I'll open this by saying that this is the worst liquid I ever tasted. I tried it neat, with an ice cube and mixed with ginger ale (2 oz of "spirit" to ~7 oz of ginger ale). In all three cases the flavor of this thing is too strong and artificial. It tastes like green wood extract with a powdering of baking spices and that flavor lingers for an extremely long finish which in this case is horrible. The smell is of sweet damp wood, the kind that has sat in a damp place for a while and is starting to break down. Added to that there is an artificial sweetness and a very unbalanced range of spices and aromas. It does not taste even remotely like whisk(e)y. Not even in the same vicinity. They claim this is to reproduce the flavor or bourbon but my best analogy of this would be saying that my 7 yo daughter's drawing of a stick figure was an homage to the Mona Lisa. Finally, I must make a comment about the price. This is not worth $35. Honestly, given the flavors I don't think it is worth any money, no matter how cheap, but even if the flavors were not this awful, the product is not worth the price of a bottle of bourbon that had to be carefully distilled and aged, plus all the duties involved in alcohol production. This simply is not a good product. Don't buy it.

Really hoping that all the positive buzz was true so begrudgingly purchased this non-alcohol alternative, Despite its exorbitant cost. Imagine a low-cost, sugar-free syrup on the discount shelf at Homesense/Winners and then imagine diluting it with 3x it’s volume in water, and you get this product. Zero taste, zero texture, just watery light brown nothingness. Admittedly, my hopes were high but this product is horrific. Try something else first. Thank me later. (Yes, it has beautiful labels and clever marketing but the product is terrible)

apéritif sans alcool parfait pour moi

To start, taste a little watery and not great neat but it’s a good representation of a familiar brand. With a mixer in my case coke tastes a lot like the JD. Shame non alcoholic drinks are so much more than alcoholic versions.

Notas de caramelo, extraño para beber solo pero perfecto para cócteles. Lo compré porque antes el bourbon era mi bebida por defecto y ahora que no bebo alcohol buscaba un sustituto 0,0. No me ha decepcionado.
