This is the best gin substitute I've tried
It’s important that the context for this review. I haven’t had a drink of alcohol in over 30 years so my pallet isn’t geared toward the taste of alcohol. However, this is my favorite gin substitute. I’ve tried other non-alcoholic gins and didn’t like any of them I will keep buying this one over and over again it mixes in a gin and tonic and anything else I want to put it in very very well. I really love this gin substitute.

Cracked and leaking cap, and weird floaters inside??
I was excited to try this after I had tried the Malt Whiskey alternative that was here locally. The gin alternative wasn't available here in town so I ordered online. This bottle arrived with a cracked cap which was a sticky mess to open, and then I noticed there were all of these little floaters inside the bottle. I doubt this is normal, and wonder if this is junk that has seeped in from the cracked seal maybe. Not sure, but it's super off putting and honestly don't even want to try it now, which is disappointing. Can't even return or get a refund, so this was a huge waste of money now. Won't be purchasing here again.

Two bottles: two completely different experiences...
Update 5/9/2021:With all the glowing reviews I figured there must have been something wrong with the bottle that was delivered to us so I ordered another and crossed my fingers. My original purchase was from a 3rd party supplier so this time I made sure the supplier was Lyre Sprits. Not sure if that makes any difference.Completely different experience. Nice floral bouquet, a little on the sweet side and not as juniper forward as I was hoping. Still maintains the dry aspect which is welcome. Would definitely be on the list for repeat purchases, but this puts me in a quandary. If the one was undrinkable, and you can't tell until opened, and once opened it cannot be returned, is it worth the gamble? Review updated to 4 stars: 5 for taste and -1 for not returnable even if absolutely undrikable.Original review of one star: Been rolling through the various NA gins available. This is my 6th brand. My go-to mix is a G&T with either Fever Tree Indian (when I want a treat), Q (when I want to taste the "gin") and Schweppes, Canada Dry, or whatever other brand happens to be on sale when I just want a sweet drink. For this tasting I went with Q to really get a feel for the taste. Why? Because the smell is horrific! I'm drinking it now as I review so everything is fresh...Nail polish is the best description of the smell. Not Acetone. That I can stand and work with regularly, but nail polish which is a smell that I cannot tolerate. Not the lingering smell you get after the bottles are closed and the nails are drying, the hit-you-in-the-sniffer smell you get as you walk by the packed nail salon in the mall. This "aroma" dissipated within a 1.5oz to 7.5oz mix of a G&T, but it was not forgotten entirely. A small belch brings it right back into the nasal cavity. They definitely hit the "dry" part out-of-the-park. Not much in the way of juniper, slight bit of citrus, but more like eating the pith rather than infusing the rind due to how dry the finish is.The smell is really disconcerting. Really wondering if this got baked on the 8-day journey from California to Central PA or somewhere between Australia and the East Coast. To that note, this is the only NA Gin that I have purchased that requires refrigeration after opening but has the longest use by period after being opened of 12 weeks. So, summary: It hits the "dry" description really well. The smell is horrendous and that alone will probably dissuade drinking it. Not much in the way of flavor profile but the dryness certainly adds to a G&T letting you know you added something. And my daughter agrees, smells like putting your nose to a fresh bottle of nail polish. Last on my list of NA Gins and the only one I am permanently removing from my list of possible repurchases. Unfortunately this will most likely get dumped and has me questioning the other NA offerings by this company.

Tastes Like Light Tonic Water
Lyre's NA drink does not taste like gin or smell like gin, so don't expect it to be like gin. It does not give a G&T any G flavoring. I also tried it with cranberry juice and lime, and it wasn't anything special. I have to say that it's not worth the price. I can get the exact same flavoring and calories from a generic bottle of light tonic water.

Tastes like Bombay Sapphire Gin
This is my favorite nonalcoholic gin. It tastes like the real deal, very botanical, fresh juniper flavor, almost exactly like Bombay Sapphire. Mix 1 ounce with 6 ounces Fevertree light tonic and a strong squirt of real lime juice, and you have the perfect gin and tonic alternative.

Is it supposed to be this bitter?
I've been reading reviews and they're all over the place with this stuff. Some people say it's got some sweetness but not too sweet, some people say it's basically water, some people say it smells like nail polish remover. And I'm at a distinct disadvantage in knowing if it succeeds in mimicking the experience of drinking gin because I've never had real gin before, and am determined to not start drinking anytime soon. Mine smells kind of lemony, kind of something else, which I assume is supposed to be juniper. To me, this basically doesn't taste like much in the beginning, but after you drink it, it has a wicked bitter bite, and not even a hint of sweetness to at least cushion the blow. I just assumed it was meant to be mixed with things, but when I tried making a gin and tonic with it, it was almost un-drinkable for me, despite the tonic water being amply sweetened. The only way I found to drink this stuff has been to mix it with MUCH sweeter ingredients, like half a can of Sprite or what most people would consider "way too much" simple syrup. Maybe this is because I've never drank the real thing before, but I get the impression that it's not supposed to be this aggressively bitter. I also hear gin is supposed to be notorious for having a "piney" taste, but I got none of that here. So, I don't know - maybe I got a bad batch, maybe I just don't like gin. But this has just been my experience as a non-drinker trying to make cocktails with non-alcoholic ingredients. And thinking about the nature of reviewing something, I ask myself, "If this is how it's supposed to taste, would I order more?" And the answer for me is probably not. Maybe if this is totally wrong and not what it's supposed to taste like I'd give it another try, but I was not impressed with what I got.

The best NA gin so far
We've tried a few brands that are supposed to simulate gin but this is the only one that actually tastes like gin and not just Botanical.

Disgustoso
