Q: Is this suitable for a teenage boy or is it more for primary school age?

It's a full size backpack, it's actually probably too big for a primary school boy. My boy is only 6. But I don't think it would be durable enough for high-school. I think with alot of books it wouldn't last the entire school year.

It's water resistant to a certain point :)

Q: Does it have a Water bottle holder on the side?

Yes it does! But I’m not going to lie, if you need it for every use (school) I wouldn’t buy it, my wee boys 7 (so doesn’t particularly have a lot of things to take every day) and the straps ripped at the top within a couple of months! Every school rucksack I’ve bought him before has lasted him the year! Bit disappointing for the price!
