My tank took just over a day too clear up and was crystal clear by day 3. I’ve had friends add sand after filling tank 1/2 way with water. Either way, disturb sand as little as possible and you have clear tank in a day or two . **Q: Is this fine sand?** A: I wouldn't say its very fine. There is much finer sand this definitely not the finest **Q: Can this be added to an established tank I want to change to a fine sand bed** A: Yes.... don’t rinse **Q: Do you have to keep buying sand over time or is this a product that once established it remains?** A: Don't know. 1st time user. Says on the package it never has to be replaced. It's a beautiful sand but has one conspicuous drawback: it's too fine. In my tank, where the currents are strong, the result is bare spots next to mounds. It won't stay put.
