Review: Congestion relief in a box! Buy this thing! - Best purchase ever! I work with germy toddlers in a preschool class so I get sick quite a bit. I was severely congested so much so that when I first tried to use it the liquid wouldn’t come out the other nostril. I used the low setting. I would just blast it up there anyway and blow it out. I figured it was better than nothing. I used it in the morning, afternoon, and night the first day I got it and even though the liquid wouldn't go through it still felt better after using it day 1. It’s now the morning of day 2 the fourth time using it and the liquid is now going all the way through and it feels so good to breathe through my nose. I had been sick for about 5 days prior to when I ordered this thing and when I say sick I mean sick I was at a point where I was desperate for congestion relief and willing to try anything. I was so congested I could feel my heartbeat in my nose there was so much pressure in my head. I was using nose sprays that eventually stopped working and over the counter meds for decongestants and a vicks steamer, but this thing is what made me feel better! Also the fact that it comes with so many of those packets is awesome and it comes with the batteries so you don’t have to make three separate purchases its just all there ready for relief and at a really decent price! If you’re looking for relief buy this product you won’t regret it! I think I am going to start using it even when I am not sick too maybe once a week/month or when the toddlers I work with start to get sick. This also would be great for people with allergies!
Review: Wow - I had been using the bottle "irrigator" to clean out my airways. I have terrible, terrible allergies along with an active five year old so I will let you imagine how many times a year I come down with some awful sort of snot-laden illness. I had been using the bottle irrigator for a bit and I wasn't really sure if it was working or not. I mean, stuff was coming out of my nose but I still felt congested and I couldn't smell, etc. Being rather annoyed by this, I decided to give this a try. So typical morning, I wake up and my face is full of snot. I go do the bottle irrigation and resume my morning activities. In an hour, the congestion had built back up and so I did it again. I forgot I had ordered this and found it on my doorstep when I went to take out the garbage. I thought, wow, this is a good opportunity to see if that other bottle is missing anything in terms of snot and crap in my poor nose. So I beamed it up, went into the bathroom and began irrigating. I have to warn you, I am kind of a sissy with this kind of stuff, since I am one of those that thinks she is entitled to complete comfort all of the time. So I start doing this and I am looking at myself in the mirror and something was wrong. Then! It just chugged right out of my nose; it could barely make it out. Some giant "thing." Then! SPRAY of water. Ugh! Absolutely disgusting. I was glad it slipped down the drain right away, so I did not get the chance to examine it, which I would have definitely done. It was huge. I have a small nose. I wonder how long it was in there with no possible way out. The moral of the story is that this machine is more effective than the black tipped bottle for me. I am glad whatever that was is out and I have to admit my head feels different. I am skeptical of these sorts of remedies with so much monotyped writing on the package that one hardly knows where to start. However, I am very pleased that the snot blockade that I suspected was there is now out of my body. I can smell the coffee! Some tips: I really would advise against using a solution made at home. While it seems a rip-off for salt and baking soda, at least you know what is going up your nose, and if something awful were to happen, you could at least pursue some remedy legally. I would only use distilled/bottled water for this. Period. I have seen too many stories about brain eating amoebas and crap from water going up the nose. Perhaps they have some wretched little ameoba cousins in tap water. In any case, I don't want to be the one to discover them. No thank you. I might feel differently if I lived in a place where the tap water wasn't in the headlines but why risk it. I have to say, that right before the chunk came out, I was wanting to quit. It was just before hurting. But I kept going and when the reservoir ran out (quickly with this apparatus when compared with the squeeze bottle) I lamented, "aw man!!" And I did it again. In sum, I would try this if you don't know what to think about the bottle and the neti pot feels like waterboarding (I just cannot handle the neti pot)!! And if you irrigate frequently on high polen days, the nasal gel by the same company is advised by me. It soothes the overwashed tissues nicely.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I have purchased 3 at the drugstore for travel because they break after 4-6 months of use, how can I make it last for everyday use? Ready to give up**
A: I buy this regularly at Walgreens and like it. However many of the comments here are accurate. If you let it set too long it freezes up and won’t run. I think the salt in the solution is a culprit but I found freezing up was issue if it sat too long even cleaning with distilled water (no salt) on final clean after use. I would suggest just running a packet of salt through it every other day minimum even if you aren’t running into your sinuses. That should keep it from stopping.

I candidly do not suggest you try to keep these for more than a few months before replacing with new. There is no way to look inside to inspect for bacteria or mold. I tried. Because of that i run vinegar through it 1 part to 3 distilled water. (Only use distilled water not tap water for any purpose). I do that every second week. Shoot into you hand but NOT into nose obviously when cleaning devise. Flush with 100% distilled after letting it sit for a minute or so. Then let it dry.

About every month or so, I will substitute run a small amount of bleach 1 part to 6 parts distilled water through mechanism and again shoot into hand to clean. Immediately flush with 100 distilled water after.

But after those efforts it is still best to get new one every 2-3 months. The cost of larger irrrigation devices might last a year but that covers the cost of 4 of these. The risk of it harboring bacteria and mold is too great. This cost is still lower than a copay for sinus infection.

If periodically cleaned they will shoot far better than squeeze bottles.

**Q: has this product been modified? i was about to buy one of these products
but after reading the reviews i wont be buying one it sounds like it's got a lot of problems.**
A: I dont know if it has been modified. I probably wouldn't use in the shower as some people have... And I would probably consider what type of water you put in it.. they say to boil it so the machine doesn't get clogged with sediment. I could see that like any product it could have issues mechanically if it was dunked in water or dropped, etc.

**Q: are the batteries included in this product?**
A: Mine did not arrive with batteries, it also died shortly after 30 days, do not trust product to be shipped with any quality control - good luck on the batteries.

**Q: How does this compare to the manual bottle?**
A: Don't buy this. Mine broke after like 5 uses. You can see other peoples reviews did the same. After it broke I bought the manual bottle and I believe does just the same or better job in my opinion.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I've bought 3 of these over the past couple years
*by R***T on December 18, 2016*

I have bought three of the Sinugators over the past 3 years. There is a good and bad reason for this. The GOOD reason being that this is the best portable sinus rinse device on the market. Waterpik used to make an awesome device but they discontinued it a couple years ago due to customer complaints. I now use the NeilMed Sinugator at least once a day and I believe it has been the main reason I haven't had the cold of flu for the past 3 years. It's an amazing feeling being able to breath freely without any obstruction. When I mentioned to my doctor that I use a sinus rinse daily he was quick to comment how it is more effective than antibiotics for most people. The Sinugator is quick and easy to use, and your sinus passageways are flushed out in 30 seconds or less. I think the idea of using a neti pot is ridiculous after using an electric device such as the Sinugator. Ok, now the BAD reason why I've purchased three of these. As other reviewers have noted, this device has the tendency to stop working after a few weeks or months. I believe my second one stopped working after 30 - 45 days. The good news is that you can fix this by removing 3 screws and pulling the guts out of the device. The metal trigger piece which has a copper connector has a tendency of corroding. This would not happen if they used a gold connector (shame on them). I personally use a small piece of fine sandpaper to clean off the corrosion and then I place a drop of oil on the connector. I'm not sure how long the layer of oil lasts, but I'd like to believe that it helps to prolong the need for another cleaning. I've had to disassemble these devices several times each over the past 3 years. In the end it is worth all the trouble. I've attached a photo of what the inside device looks like. Why 5 stars then if this device has a design flaw? Well, I personally believe that it would be hypocritical to give it less than 5 stars after buying several of them. I will probably order it again in the future unless another company comes out with something better.
