The Daily Telegraph General Knowledge Crosswords 10

The puzzles are challenging with some really obscure clues and solutions. I suspect that it is mostly older folk who find crosswords attractive and this book fails to recognise that its target audience is likely to have failing eyesight. Both the print for the clues and the grid for the answers are unreasonably small and conducive to eye strain. Over two pages of clues plus the grid equals three pages per puzzle so you are constantly flipping back and forth to complete it. Poorly designed format which detracts from enjoyment of the puzzles.

As usual, full of good questions but I find the format spoils enjoyment. To have to flip back and forth between the crossword grid and the questions on different pages is very disconcerting.

These GK crosswords are really good brain teasers with a consistent high standard. I have given it a 4 star because, (and this is my only negative point), you have to keep flicking backwards and forwards to see all of the clues. Otherwise very enjoyable. I would recommend this book.

I've bought several of these DT general knowledge crosswords and am proud of the fact that I actually completed one of the crosswords without access to a computer. They are extremely difficult but addictive and, even at my age, educational. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the cumbersome format. Make the book bigger and fit the puzzles on two pages rather than three.
