The salve didn't smell like much. It looks a bit icky as it is dark, but I used this on some cystic acne I had overnight. It helped reduce the acne and made it hurt much less.

This old time remedy is still the best out there to draw out impurities, stubborn cysts or infected areas. Used very sparingly with a simple band aid, left on for as long as possible, it will do the trick. It is NOT an overnight remedy.

About 12 hours ago I put this ointment on a boil/cyst I had under my armpit. It went from a painful red lump to developing a head and ready to drain. You only need a little just enough to coat it, cover with gauze and put some heat on it. I’m so happy this worked because I was in a LOT of pain due to the location of it. This stuff is well worth a try.

Drawing Salve is weird mountain cure stuff. The dark salve is known for drawing out poisons from your skin. The magic ingredient in drawing salve is this stuff, ichthammol. There's snake oil salespeople that sell that as a cure for all kinds of stuff, and there's the articles and studies and lawsuits to prove it. It is thought to exhibit anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antimycotic properties. It is made from Coal Tar. It's black and it stains. I'm sure some of the products that use it are not from the safest distillation purity processes. The FDA has outlawed some of the products. This is pharmaceutical grade which is why I opted for this brand. About once a year something bites or poisons me. I am not sure if it's fire ants, no see ums, or maybe it's poison oak or ivy. But I will get a couple of tiny pimples. One or a cluster of a few. The latest time it was on my hand. Last time it was on my foot. But the little pimples itch like you can't imagine. They don't spread, or burst, but they insanely itch. To where I will itch the skin off and end up with a big scar. Nothing works. Hydrocortisone spray doesn't make a difference. Itch creams don't matter. Benadryl liquid, spray and pills don't lessen the itch. PRID has worked for me before but I decided to try this stuff. It smells. It goes on like brown vaseline. It stains your skin. But it works. Within two days the cluster of itchy pimples stopped itching and gradually disappeared. This stuff claims to work on bug bites, poison oak etc, and boils. If it is ugly and itching it probably treats it. I would not use this stuff every day, it's made from coal tar and probably isn't great in other ways but if you have one of the above (poison, bite, boil) then this stuff will get at whatever is in your skin to cause that problem. Some say it works on cysts, pimples, and splinters. Worth a shot. I didn't feel anything while it was on, but it seemed to do the trick.

I had a wart like on my finger last summer and let me tell you something, these stuff WORKS, it took time, maybe a month or less I saw it go away, but YES, my wart was GONE!!

Ichthammol Ointment has been around since I was very little and that was a long time ago! It will draw out glass slivers, thorns, splinters and will drain boils... without lancing your skin. It is also wonderful on a bug bite to draw out the irritant from your skin. It looks awful. BE CAREFUL, it will stain cloth. Using a q-tip, put a dab on the area needed, put a bandaid on it. Do this 2X a day until the site has given up the owee! No prescription needed. It is a must have in your medicine cabinet. Can be used on infants to seniors. The price can't is great. Well, it works, but just want everyone to know that it stains fabric! I had a boil and put the medicine on and the bandage must’ve fallen off during the night and all the medicine smeared on the sheets and my husband thought I pooped the bed! 😂😂( it’s brown salve) I washed the sheets and it’s still there, a stain now.

I can't say enough good about this product. I bought it to draw out the contents of s sebaceous cyst on 1 of my dogs. It worked extremely well & I was able to avoid surgery on my dog. A friend told me about it. Her brother had burns on the soles of his feet & by using this ointment his feet healed & there was no scarring. Also known as "black salve".
