Good series...not worth $90.
**UPDATE** 7/28/2016 - The complete series has be re-released in a boxed set that has BOTH versions of the anime and is remastered! It's also loaded with extras thereby making this volume 6 release even more useless and worthless than before. Look for that set instead.Original review:This was a good series. Cartoon Network's first original anime produced with Production I.G., a company that constantly produces quality animation. However, despite great animation and terrific voice work from your usual stable of American Anime voice actors who are joined by well known film actors Haley Joel Osment, Michelle Rodriguez and Lance Henriksen, the story is mediocre at best. Even though it looks like a Japanese product (complete with mech-like racing machines) the story is full of American sports cliches. The charming characters and stunning race scenes win this show bonus points but the series is constantly dragged down by dull sports drama. I would still definitely suggest checking this series out...at a reasonable price. Don't let unscrupulous, greedy sellers make you look like a chump. The series is not worth paying more than $30 for a single disc volume that only contains a handful of episodes. Volume 6 may be rare but don't be fooled into thinking that it's because this is a one of the Anime greats. It's not. I've mentioned this series in conversations a lot and even the most hardcore Anime nerds don't care about this series and some don't even remember that it existed. The only reason that it's rare is because people who already own volume 6 will see that it's selling for up to $90 and think "Gosh, this must be super-rare, I better hang on to mine" thereby drastically reducing the circulation of these DVDs. But trust me, when it comes to this series you're better off having an incomplete DVD collection and just downloading the rest of the episodes. Or wait for Cartoon Network to re-air it. But for the love of Anime, DO NOT give money to anyone foolish enough to charge more than $30 for this DVD (especially at the laughable price of $90). Don't give them the satisfaction of taking advantage of you. There are tons of MUCH better Anime that you can spend your money on and for much less. For $90 you could probably get the complete collections of three other Animes (some even on Blu-ray). For $90, you can get tons of great merchandise at an Anime expo. All much better uses of your money than on this single disc set.
