Just Say When

Nate and Ava Mae. I could really go on for a while about how dumb this book and their relationship was but I'll try to be brief.Best friend's little sister. Nate had been feeling things for Ava for awhile but realized he loved her when he and her brother were leaving for the marines. This puts him at about 18/19 and her at about 13/14. Yikes!!! Someone get Chris Hanson from Dateline on the phone. Anyways, fast forward a few years and Ava is a 20 year old college student and Nate owns a gym. They haven't seen each other in at least 2 years. Ava meets Zach and they immediately hit it off. She's really into him until she finds out he's a fighter that Nate is training. Nate is probably a normal guy until this point but when Ava comes in his gym with Zach he goes full on lunatic. He's insanely jealous and starts warning Zach off immediately. Eventually he just straight up begs Zach to back off. Zach agrees because he's either a super good guy or doesn't want to see his trainer cry. Nate and Ava finally admit their feelings for each other and Ava wants to take it slow because of their history. Nate swears to her repeatedly that they can go at whatever pace she wants. Whatever she wants he will give her and won't push for more. This is where the book comes completely off the rails. He immediately makes her commit to not seeing anyone else but him until they figure it out. Weird and possessive but okay. She agrees. A week or so later he reminds her again that she sets the pace in the relationship before pushing her into making it official. She agrees. Nate is incredibly controlling, insecure, and codependent. At one point it gets late and she is going to go home, but he refuses to let her drive. Instead insisting that he drive her home and pick her up in the morning before bringing her back to get her car. All that because he doesn't want to worry about her. How did she ever drive at night before him? Another time he is saddened to learn that she is having dinner with her friends and going to a club after. He weasels an invite to the club out of her while letting us know that he was going regardless since he has to keep tabs on her at all times. He and his friends are going to meet Ava and the girls there and he demands that she wait outside the club for him to arrive. Much to his horror she doesn't obey and is inside for almost 5 minutes before he and his friends arrive. Once he lets the others know that the women disobeyed they all storm into the club like rabid animals, terrified that another man may speak to them. Talk about insecure. Ava decides she's ready for sex with Nate after a few weeks of dating. Nate has already said that whenever she's ready he'll give her what she wants because he only lives to make her happy. Silly girl actually believed that. Hahaha. Of course Nate won't have sex with her. The reason is just as dumb as you would expect. He wants to tell her brother he hasn't had sex with her when he tells him that they're dating. This makes perfect sense to exactly no one. Nate won't budge on this because he knows that Ava's vagina is her brother's responsibility and she can't be trusted to give herself to someone when she's ready. Why would she think that's okay? The brother doesn't show up until the end of the book and he takes it exact like you think he would because he also believes it's his business who his sister sleeps with. She's just a woman after all. He refuses to give his blessing until Nate beats a guy up. That's not an exaggeration. I've made it sound like this book is interesting. It's not. 65% of this book is just Ava and Nate word vomiting their feelings all over each other. Nate is an absolute mess. He cries real tears when he hears a guy grabbed Ava by the wrist. He seriously has a mini meltdown. He's also quite into giving her orders and commands which she obeys for someone reason. He also enjoys having panic attacks if she is out of his sight for more than 30 seconds. Again, not an exaggeration. If this were real life and a woman was with a man as clingy, needy, jealous, manic, and controlling as Nate she would get a restraining order. Yet for some reason because it's a book women will swoon over Nate. Don't believe the hype but i almost encourage you to read this book so you know I'm not lying. I don't hate you so I won't recommend it, but almost.

___________________________Positives:This book has definitely captured my heart, especially the history and non-stop love the two characters have for each other. I’m so in love with them and I think I have a new book boyfriend. 😂 I loved how she wrapped up their story in a nice pretty infinity bow. I also liked how everything had a meaning behind it, even in the close to ending part with Clint. Which by the way, f*** that guy with a ruler! This book is beautiful and will make you want to either fall in love the exact same way or fall in love all over again (if you already have that special someone 😉) it wasn’t overall sexual or to cheesy, it was the perfect amount to make it romantic and show this story is more then just two people falling in love. Amazing book!Negatives:This isn’t a total big deal, but it also reminds me of a type of story on WattPad, but I saw some spelling mistakes or words that weren’t used correctly. Weirdly enough, another book that’s the has kinda the same plot with a brothers best friend falling for the little sister, has the same type of errors. Recommended if you loved this book: the boy who sneaks into my bedroom window. But, the reason I took off a star is because the beginning was kinda boring on to me and at one point I felt like pages were getting repeated. I wasn’t sure if I just read the same page over and forgot some the words but some stuff had to have been repetitive to say the least. A sweet story, though there was somthing missing for it to be a five star. I normally really like Kaylee Ryan books and though this isn't my favorit, it is still a lovely story. Ava amd Nate are great characters and their friends and family are funny, but I have a few issues. There is a loose association with MMA but no fighting is really discribed or the training sessions and there is no real suspence in the story. Books like this normally follow a formula of: introduce characters; have the relationship going well; intriduce an issue like an ex-girlfriend, secret child, some type of betrayal or put one character in a life threatening possition; then resolve issue though not always happily depending on the author.The issue to test the relationship was just a little blah, so it read a little too sugary sweet for me and just lacked a little something.

I was expecting more from this book so was a little bit disappointed how the book started off really quite enjoyable then suddenly Nate this big hunk of a man turned into a puppy dog following Ava Mae around declaring his undying love after what seemed like two pages! Seemed all to far fetched to me, and predictable is not the word how many times it was mentioned about brody's birthday hug Ava asks for every year so it wasn't a shock when brody actually turned up to give his sister her birthday hug as It had been mentioned so many times.

After reading the reviews I thought this would be a good read to be honest even tho I'm glad there was no cliff hanger i thought the story line was kind of sweet!!! I also found it a little cheesy!!! The story seemed to be rushed through out wasn't a bad read but I wouldn't personally rate it a 5 star after other books I have read each to their own tho

Just read this and can honestly say it is one of those feel good books. Not much in action really seemed like it was bound to happen, you see it build up through the book and then it was over in a blink of an eye ( read to find out ;) ) who wouldn't want a Nate in their lives. When I finished reading it left me with a light heart. I would recommend to anyone to read

This is truly one of the best love stories I have read (and I've read alot) I did not stop smiling when reading this, maybe a few tears too. Once I started reading just couldn't put this book down... If you love a good love story, with a hot male this is a must read....
