Very impressed with quality
I bought this night stand for our guest bedroom and I am extremely pleased. I have bought similar assembly-required furniture from other brands before, and the directions were horrible, pieces were missing/broken/poor quality, and customer service completely non existent - that was not the case here at all. The instructions were extremely easy to understand: Most pieces are labeled and even if they weren't, the images look exactly like them so all you have to do is lay it out how they have it on the paper - plus I believe there are instructional videos online if you have any trouble - I didn't use them so I can't comment on the quality of those. I was able to put it together in less than an hour by myself. The material is heavy and it actually looks really nice - the jamocha wood is a dark brown and looks fantastic. I had planned on buying Ikea furniture, but this piece was actually cheaper and nicer looking online and arrived with better materials and easier instructions. I purchased the matching dresser and it's just as good - a few more unnoticeable dings from shipping and one unimportant plastic piece was broken but I feel like this is FedEx's fault and not so much the manufacturer. I didn't contact customer service about it because it wasn't a big deal, so I can't comment on how well they handle things. Only sort-of complaint that I have is there weren't any extra screws and one of the types they use is really hard to undo if you insert it incorrectly - I actually had to break the plastic anchoring part off with pliers to get it out but it ended up working just fine. Just pay close attention to the instructions and you won't have that problem. Overall, I would definitely recommend this - I'm considering even buying additional pieces for the master bedroom because it looks better than the expensive furniture we bought in a store!

So beautiful and easy to put together
I love this little table! I bought two of these to put next to our recliners in our TV room to hold our laptops and drinks, etc. They arrived very quickly (Prime shipping). The two tables we ordered were in separate boxes and both were packed PERFECTLY in heavy cardboard with heavy styrofoam filling every nook and cranny so nothing could shift when the boxes were shipped. We opened the boxes one at a time, laid out the pieces and stacked the screws, etc. in stacks so they'd be easy to find. Then we opened the instructions and followed them. Thirty minutes later the first table was finished. We really laughed when, in the middle of the instructions, we read, "This might be a good time to refill your drink." LOL We were thrilled at how easy it was. Then we opened the second box and proceeded as above. However, when we got to putting the drawer together we found we were missing the bottom to the drawer. No problem. We just completed the drawer without the bottom and put the table next to one recliner. Then I called Customer Service and spoke with Jeannie without even being put on hold. (Miracle of miracles!!) She was very friendly and said she would send a replacement piece right out to me. And she did! It arrived two days later having been shipped 2-day Priority. We pulled out the drawer, inserted the new bottom piece, and voila! we were done. I can't say enough great things about this product, the perfect instruction book, and especially the great customer service! It looks great and nobody would know it's not all wood or that I paid such a great price for it. I definitely will buy more Sauder products!

Better than expected; fairly priced
These worked out great for us. Buying furniture online is always tricky and I was in particular about the quality as well as assembly. We got 2 of these, with each arriving separately in their own box. The boxes were A LOT heavier than I expected. The packaging on this was better than any other furniture I've ever purchased. It had these neat, really tough brackets that protected the parts against damage in shipping. The actual product itself is cheap particle board (expected at this price) but I have seen worse. Assembly instructions were pretty good ad seemed to be written by someone who actually speaks English. Again, I have seen much worse. While it took me an hour to put these together alone, it wasn't particularly difficult. The end result was a set of nice looking, affordable night stands. If there was one negative it would be that a couple of the pieces had some sort of marks on them that wouldn't come off. They weren't damaged in shipping so I'd imagine it was poor quality control. Not a deal breaker or worth the return after an hour of assembly. Overall, happy with these.

For the price this is as good as it gets
If you read the reviews you need to write the reviews. I don't know about you but I always read the reviews because this is the only was to get a true view for any of the products. Of course some are written because they are mad and some because they are with the company but then there are us folks that buy the item and want to help other people. On with the review. For the price this is as good as it gets. This my not be something you are going to keep in the family forever but it is good for what it is. The stand is good and solid and looks good when it is complete. It is not something you are going to put together in 10 minutes but all the parts were there and all the holes were where they should be. Everything lined up like they are supposed to. This is one time I would suggest that you read and follow the instructions. Don't think you will throw this Night Stand together cause it won't happen. I have seen more unusual bolts and inserts then I have ever seen before. The main thing is how sturdy it is when fully assembled. I have seen in other reports that there was a smell with the Night Stand. I noticed a smell when I first opened the box but it didn't seem to last to long or maybe I got used to it. I am using it as a printer stand and it is the perfect size with a place for my paper on the lower shelf and extra ink in the drawer. If you adjust the slides on the drawer like they suggest it operates perfect. My only problem was with the outside shipping box. It was beat all to hell but the really good packaging for the Night Stand didn't have a mark on it and there was not any damage to the Night Stand.

Nice Nightstand !
Bought two of these for either side of our bed. Love the quality and looks also can not beat Amazons price. They look like the came from a furniture store. Assembly wasn't too bad took about 1 hour on the first one because I took my time to get it right. Second one went a little faster. Overall we are very happy !

Great Item!!
When I began working from home (due to COVID-19) I used a room in my house to create "an office." The longer we were out I knew I needed a printer and need something to put it on but I did not want something to expensive but nothing too cheap either. I also wanted something that looked nice and that I could keep as a furniture piece when this is hopefully all over and we go back to "normal" or whatever the "new norm" will be. I came across this piece and it received such positive reviews and stated that it was not to hard to assemble so I figured I would give it a shot. It did take some time to put together (about an hour, I am not handy at all) but i absolutely love the final product. It works great for me as a printer stand but could also be used as a nightstand or side table. I am very happy with this piece. Also is has some weight to it it is not super light. It has a small pull out drawer and a shelf for storage. I would definitely recommend.

MUST BE placed against a wall
I wanted to use this piece between 2 recliners in my rec room. A nice little piece with a drawer for pens or the remote and some storage underneath. A place to sit my drinks while I watch TV. WRONG! My recliners are not placed up against a wall. They are more out in the middle of the room - so this little table would also be out in the middle of the room - where you can see the back of it. That is the problem with this piece of furniture. After you assemble it there are UNFINISHED EDGES on the back. It would look fine pushed up against a wall where you can't see the back but you can't use it out in the middle of the floor because you can then see the ugly unfinished back. And the cardboard piece that you nail onto the back is only finished on 1 side, so you must either have the finished edge facing the front which leaves the plain gray cardboard showing on the back - or you can put the finished side facing out which leaves the plain gray cardboard side facing the front. Why in the world would they not finish the edges of the wood on the back so you can use this piece without pushing it up against a wall? Why not include the cardboard backer with a finished edge on both sides? I'm pretty annoyed because they don't include a picture of the back in the listing. I didn't realize until I'd assembled it that the back would be ugly and it could only be used pushed up against a wall. I would for sure return it but I've already assembled it. If you plan to ONLY use this piece pushed up against a wall where you can't see the back it would probably work for you. If you planned to place it where it can be seen from the back it will not work. Add a picture of the back Sauder

Not great but OK for the price
First of all, I realize for $70 one can't expect something wonderful. However, I really don't have much good to say about this piece. I have a three piece bookcase/library by Sauder which I've had for around 10 years and like a lot. Good finish, reasonably quality, not too difficult to assemble. The actual color of the nightstand is more walnut/dark finished oak - if you oiled a piece of oak ("oiled oak" is the name of the color) it would not go all that dark, even if you used a dark Watco type oil. It does not look like what my computer displays - it's noticeably darker. The pieces don't all fit together well. Where the bottom piece meets the right side, there's a gap which no screw tightening could fix. The gap isn't huge and isn't all that obvious, but I can see daylight through it if I look closely. The assembly directions aren't all that clear, and several pieces weren't even marked, making the assembly more challenging. All the hardware was included, which was a relief. The last complaint - the most serious one in my opinion - is the smell. I'm going to have to leave it in the garage until it "off gasses" - hard to say how long that will be, but I wouldn't expect anyone to have to sleep in a room with this thing. It made me feel a bit ill in just the time it took me and my husband to put it together. It's not worth returning, but if I had been able to see it prior to buying, I probably wouldn't have. I bought this to "stage" a bedroom while our house is for sale. I'll probably put it on Craigslist after the house sells. Update 1/31/12: I left it in my garage for a couple of weeks, and it no longer has any smell. It's been inside now for a couple of weeks, and it's not all that bad, really. It actually looks reasonable for the intended purpose. In its defense, it is fairly heavy and sturdy. If you don't look up close, the somewhat ill-fitting piece doesn't show at all. I will probably keep it.
