For: In-Ground base - Sturdy and small footprint.
We now have two of these bases each supporting a 12' umbrella. They are up almost all day and have withstood winds that would have easily toppled an ordinary base. They are great because they don't take up 3' feet of space so it doesn't crowd the patio. I have read some reviews that recommend quick-crete which I think is a fine option. I did not do so, and have had no problems partly because cement is a permanent option and we were not totally sure about the location. We had our gardener dig a hole and install the base. I suggest getting a bullseye level and keep checking the 'plumb' of the base. A little off on the bottom will be magnified at the top of the umbrella. That being said, every other umbrella stand has some give or lean to it anyway, so it's not a big deal. I like this product so much I will be ordering another on (for a total of 3). IMO it's even better than drilling holes in the travertine patio to mount it. The Purple Leaf umbrella mounts easily to the base and it's included plastic cap covers the base mounting plate. Great quality.

Strong Insert
I highly recommend this product for someone who is looking for a durable insert for his umbrella. We installed pretty easily with cement and connected the umbrella also very easily. Itโs very sturdy and the price wasnโt too bad if youโd compare it to outdoor furniture stores. I highly recommend it.

In a league of its own.
I agree with Bradley Goodmanโs review โThis thing is a BEAST!โ While looking at different brands of patio umbrellas, I noticed the great reviews for the Purple Leaf products. I also liked the look of Purple Leaf umbrellas but had witnessed umbrellas sailing through neighborhoods after being snatched from their bases. While browsing I noticed this mounting system popped up as a suggested item whenever I looked at patio furniture. After reading several reviews written earlier this summer, I figured this would be a good investment to prevent southern thunderstorms from destroying my investment. After receiving the anchor, I was impressed with the heavy gauge of the metal. Living in central Alabama where the primary soil is Blackland prairie (which is a mix of clay and soft limestone), I assumed that when buried the soil, combined with the weight and width of the base of the anchor would support the 12โ cantilever umbrella I ordered. To be safe, I also purchased two bags of quikrete. Be prepared to dig and I mean dig. After digging a hole roughly 20โ deep and 18โ across, I placed the anchor in the ground and leveled before adding the two bags of quikrete. So far, the umbrella has survived several southern thunderstorms with no damage and havenโt moved any. Iโm still able to maneuver the umbrella through its full 360 degrees of rotation with no movement at the base. This is the best way to go if you were to ask me. No need for a heavy base taking up space on the patio, that still may not offer the support you need in an unexpected storm. FYI, the heads of the mounting hardware are socket head cap screws, which are almost impossible to strip, if youโre mechanically inclined. They used because of their high tensile strength. Personally, I had no problem with the provided fasteners, or the Chinese steel mentioned in one of the other reviews.

Worth it!
Used this to get rid of the large base and works phenomenally well! Pretty easy to install and secure for 40-60mph wind gusts.

Pricey but gets the job done
This is really perfect for my umbrella. I set it in two 80lb bags of quikcrete. I don't think it could be more sturdy. My only real complaint is the price. I don't know that it is worth $120 but there aren't really options either.

Very sturdy base
This sturdy umbrella base is truly a game-changer. Not only does it make your umbrella more stable, but it also adds a touch of elegance to your outdoor space. While it may be slightly overpriced, the quality and durability it provides make it well worth the investment. Don't settle for a flimsy base that won't hold up in the wind - upgrade to this top-of-the-line option today! I will also suggest the company reconsider giving a discount if purchased with the Umbrella as a combo offer.

Works great!
Great at holding the large canopy steady. Clear directions on how to install. Would suggest to look at the total bags of concrete as I needed two more.
