A Good Introduction to Embryo Adoption for Young Children
Chosen and LovedThe narrative of this book is less of a story and more of simple script for parents. It has strong religious themes that touch on God’s love for the child, the parents’ prayers, and God bringing the child and parents together. Of the four books about embryo donation/adoption that we purchased, this one is the best fit for our family. It is not too technical for a young child, reflects our family’s religious beliefs, and offers a gentle introduction to what I anticipate will be an ongoing conversation for our family for years to come.Buy it for:• colorful illustrations that will appeal to young children• content that is appropriate for preschool-age children• lots of opportunity for personalization with space for baby/family pictures on 7 of the 25 pages; the book includes photo corners for mounting the pictures to the pagesThings to know before you purchase:• the book uses the term “embryo adoption” rather than “embryo donation”• it does not have how-babies-are-made specifics other than defining an embryo as a “really tiny baby”• it does not address the role or even the presence of a doctor in the embryo adoption process• it does not address whether the embryo adoption was anonymous or open• the book has strong religious themes---I bought four books on embryo donation so you don’t have to….My husband and I wanted to find a book that would help us talk to our child about embryo donation, so I searched Amazon. I found that the brief descriptions of these books did not help me determine which one(s) would be a good fit for our family. I decided to hedge my bets and purchase (and review) four different titles. They are:• Ready-Made Sweetie: All Mixed Up by Whitney Williams• Scarlett’s Story by Linda Stamm• The Pea That Was Me: An Embryo Donation Story by Kimberly Kluger-Bell• Chosen and Loved by Sharon KazmierczakI have posted reviews on each of them and tried to provide details that will help other families evaluate the books prior to purchase.

Perfect!
Saw this in our doctor's office back in December and have been waiting for it to be avalabile for purchase. I have read other children's books on the subject, but I felt like the language used in them was a little scientific and impersonal. Our son is too little to understand it right now, but I am so excited to have something so perfect and personal to share with him later on. This book expresses the exact message that I want him to grasp about his life, referring to him as a "gift" and reminding him of how loved he is. I loved it before purchasing it so I didnt even know about the personalization. Love it even more now!! Thanks so much for writing such a beautiful, heartfelt story to explain such a unique situation.

A beautiful and simple book to help parents talk to their kids about embryo adoption. I love the option to personalize it with photos and it truly is a positive story for kids to understand their own embryo adoption experience from a very young age. We will be using this book with families we work with pursuing embryo adoption as a "welcome baby" gift!

We are so happy with these books and highly recommend to any family who has kids through embryo adoption. This sweet book is written simply, thoughtfully, and even has pages where you can add your own photos to personalize it for your child and family. Great book to help introduce your little one to embryo adoption.

Young child friendly embryo donation book
My daughter loves this book. She is almost three and often asks for it at bedtime. It gives the simple message that she was chosen by us and by God to be in our family, with us as her parents. It uses child friendly language and beautiful illustrations. There are options to personalize the book by adding your own photos. It introduces the concept of embryo donation in that one family gives the gift of the embryo and the other carries it to life. It does not have the words egg or sperm, yet conveys the idea that there is more than one family involved. We love it!
