The crochet hook you sent me was not at all what I ordered. The "carving" was just two parallel lines about an inch from the end of the handle, Even the photo on the box it came in showed a hook of the proper color, but a completely different style of handle than shown in the Amazon description.PLUS it was not solid purplewood, as advertised, but a layered composite of three different kinds of wood. VERY disappointed, but will keep it to add to my crochet hook collection, because it's not worth the trouble to send back.ALSO, others be warned, that the finishing of the wood was less than ideal and was rough enough to catch or snag fine yarn. I had some thousand-grit sandpaper handy, so I took care of that: HOWEVER, the size marking (rather necessary information when planning a crochet project) was so lightly stenciled on the side of the hook that this light sanding completely obliterated the writing.So, quality wise, this deserves no stars, and for not sending the hook I actually ordered, also no stars; I will give it two stars for being a functional crochet hook - of some, now, indeterminate size.

Its a pretty decent hook. The handle is easy to hold and doesn't make my hand cramp. The hook seems to have a issue or two. Notch isn't quite deep enough so doesn't grab yarn well. Also, size wasn't clear from the moment I received it and now its impossible to read. Its not the cheapest hook out there so I guess I expected a bit more than just mediocre

Hook has a nice deep throat for catching yarn. Tip of head also makes it easy to go into loops. The picture leads one to believe the product is a beautiful deep purple. Instead, my hook looks like it was dipped in purple tea. Poor craftsmanship. It's a workable dup for a Furls Crochet hook. To make it pretty, I'll need to sand it down, and stain it. I'd buy it again, with the understanding I'll have to do my own work to make it pretty.I'd give it 5 stars for function, but zero stars for the shoddy finish on it. Even at less than $10, I'd still expect it to look decent.

I am liking these hooks a lot. I bought a total of 6 and they all work well. One had a bit of splintering on the edges of the wood turning. It isn't structural, just mars the aesthetic and my fingers find those spots. The smoothness of the hook itself works fine.

Trying to like this hook. It just grabs at the yarn. It doesn't like to let go very easily.I want to really like it, but I don't.

Dull ugly color - not at all bright and pretty like the photos. Rough surface - yarn drags rather than glides as you work with it. Ugh.

I loved the fact that Amazon had a wooden hook available for under $10 and it was purple too. I ordered it and could hardly wait for it to get here. I loved the feel of it and could not wait to get started crocheting. That was when my dreams starting to pop. I still love the hook it's just that the way the hook is made is a really deep cut and the needle has to be very precise. It will not catch the yarn if it's not turned precisely and if it's not turned precisely, it will not go through the stitch. It does still work but it slows me down a lot. I will keep trying maybe I just need to be more precise myself. After 50 years, maybe I am getting sloppy.

I'm quite pleased with this hook. It's lovely and smooth with just a simple engraved size in mm, which I like. That's all the writing I need on a hook. It is long enough that it can be used for a Tunisian project if it doesn't have too many stitches. I would however, prefer the tip to be a bit pointed to make it easier to get into tighter stitches, this one is quite rounded. I would be happy to have more of these crochet hooks.
