Heal your body with raw plant based foods
Enjoyed the book from the beginning to the end. Enough details about her Lupus health problems and treatments. But, not overwhelming. Discovery of a plant based eating habit provides the nutrition needed to produce a remission and, to eventually, result in a complete blood work that didn't indicate any existence of Lupus at all. She's been able to have two children and carry on a busy career without any clinical signs of ever having Lupus. There are other books by Dr. John McDougall and Dr. Caldwell Esseltyne that go into the clinical and academic eating patterns to eliminate all kinds of meat and dairy and they have numerous cook books out. I feel that Dr. Goldner covers what is important to her without having to go into detail on the cooking and preparation of the plant based program. She does give several recipes on what she found important. And, something different from the philosophy of Fork Over Knives is that she explains that someone can benefit from the program without going hard core into the eating restrictions and allowances. She thinks that when someone begins to feel better from what they've tried so far, they might take up the complete plant based program. The Forks over Knives program is strict in compliance because the grant program took critically ill cardiac patients who needed a quick long lasting health program. Dr. Goldner's patients, for the most part, are able to work into the program or go into it immediately. Nutrition is the key to good health for everyone. The Western diet is loaded with fats, processed foods, dairy and cheese, fried foods and nothing that really adds to the bodily needs for solid, out of the ground nutritious raw foods. So practical and easy to understand for everyone. I think it's a wonderful way to start on the program unless you are in need of a quick intervention and can use the strict eating program in conjunction with the medical treatments.

Lots of Love and good food.
Dr. Goldner’s Goodbye Lupus has been life-changing for me, both physically and mentally. The book offers a powerful approach to healing, and I've seen incredible improvements in my health. One of the biggest takeaways for me was learning not to fear healthy fats like avocado, chia seeds, and flax, which are essential to the healing process. Dr. Goldner's guidance is clear, practical, and rooted in her personal experience, making it easy to follow. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for hope and a holistic way to reclaim their health!

Gives me Hope!
Wow, that first review was incredibly harsh. I've read all of the other books/studies mentioned and more, and I found this to be excellent. Short, succinct, to the point, and gives me great hope. Sure there were a few typo errors, but that can happen with a first edition, and most of them were software translation issues. All one has to do is write the author, and corrections are made (and have been made). I appreciated the personal story, one that I could relate to, and both my husband and I appreciated the way that the nutrition plan is laid out in an easy to understand and doable manner. There's no need for shopping lists, millions of recipes or even any more validation of research; there's tons of info out there on the web and in books already. It becomes a personal approach with foods that you can find in your own local markets, foods that you enjoy to create your own simple meals. Healing foods are listed quite plainly as are the inflammatory ones. I've followed many other plans, but this one helps me understand the actual amounts of healing foods that I need and a few other points that are necessary for healing. It also helped me realize my own traps that I fell into previously that stalled my efforts. The work is up to me, and we're all different, but it's great to have a simple guide that spurs me on to keep striving for wellness. I loved celebrating the author's journey/success through her writings and her photos. How refreshing.

Medical information/or NOT
Read it but do not believe all that it contains. I have selected a few points but would not use as sole resource.

Learn from a true victim of Lupus
After reading this real victim to be diagnosed w/Lupus @age 16, and put thru 2 years of chemo & radiation. Learns about all the damaging side effects afterwards and tries to go on with getting her education, you won’t want to put this book down.Reading this & learning more about this auto-immune disease than I ever knew before, I was shocked at the life that lays ahead of me by ignorance of all the chemicals and uncleanly foods I kept putting in my mouth thinking if I want it I’ll eat it. The good Lord spoke to me when I read this book and I started immediately making myself eat smarter w/small occasional mistakes. I very seldom eat deep fried, if so, a very small quantity, no seconds. I try to stick w/ white meat unless fish or salmon available. Fresh salad no tomatoes, little if any cheese. I try to eat at least 1-2 smoothies w/ healthy greens & fruits. My craving for candy has dropped to very little if any. I sleep better, my body works regular now, no constipation or diarrhea, no acid reflux. What a difference. Friends remark that I look good, which is a first in my life, even though I still have a ways to go with my weight.
