Yes, when you first start it up it gives you the option to select the language you want. Usually it's already selected for the country you bought it in.

The one I just checked which was bought last August 2021 is right now 15.7.2. I have replaced the older ones because of Audible. If it’s too old you can still use it but you’ll get an older version which doesn’t give you your full library. I still use my older ones and I have one I bought in Sept. 2022. Now I’ve just bought another. I don’t have an I phone. I haven’t had any other problems with apps being too old. I had a British Airways app that they finally updated to these versions. Hope this helps. These IPods are getting harder and harder to find…
