Helpful DF Cookbook for all
I was given an opportunity via the publisher to review the Dairy-Free Cookbook for Beginners: 101 Simple, Satisfying Recipes. I voluntarily chose to review this cookbook and my opinion is freely given. As a fellow dietitian that also follows dairy free cooking/baking due to allergies, I found these recipes to be easy and satisfying. What I like about the cookbook:- Keeps recipes simple and includes ingredients that most people are very familiar with- The author provides ingredient tips, substitution tips, and "make it easier" tips for recipes- Strong introduction that even includes meal plans to help get you started- Well organized and very easy to follow recipesThe recipes that make this book unique are:- Homestyle dinner rolls that you can make in about an hour- Savory Homemade crackers that takes less than 35 minutes to make- Chocolate Cake with Marshmallow Buttercream frostingThe only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was it lacks images. There are about 5 images for 101 recipes. I personally love images with recipes and cookbooks.

The beginning has a decent introduction on the benefits of going dairy-free, hidden forms of dairy, substitutions you can use instead of dairy products, and meal plans (a nice addition). Being severely lactose intolerant, I enjoyed the large number of recipes that give me options for foods I’ve been doing without. There are instructions on how to make your own almond milk, oat milk, cream cheese, and more. Each recipe includes servings, times, allergen options, tips and nutritional information. At the end, there is a section on recommended brands to use. Though there weren’t a lot of pictures, there were some that added to the book. What I liked: the recipes on making my own milks, cheeses, and more. I loved that the nutritional information was included. Loved the recipes and will definitely be using a lot of them. I liked the “options” in a lot of the recipes that gives you tips on swapping ingredients for other ones. What I didn’t like: very little. This is a good basic book with clear, concise easy-to-follow recipes. A definite must for those with dairy issues and a good addition to any cookbook shelf.Disclaimer: I received this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own and are not influenced by anyone.

A Good Place to Start
The author takes on this topic from personal experiences. Her training and profession in nutrition certainly lends an expertise that beginners need to bolster there need or desire to go dairy-free. The non-judgmental approach of the author further puts one at ease when trying something new. When I received my review copy, I found the book to be well-organized in logical categories; the introduction is educational without being challenging. The recipes sound absolutely tantalizing! I like that the author recognizes that many people have multiple allergies or dietary restrictions and includes notations on recipes that address other concerns aside from dairy. Pictures would have been nice...cookbooks need pictures! I'd have thought this one would have been a good candidate for a spiral binding.
