The materials are appropriate and it is not an item that I expect to last forever. If I get a good year out of them (I bought two), I will be satisfied. I figured I could always give them to my boyfriend if I didn't like them. I could have ordered my regular size, but because of the texture of the sole, my feet don't slide around too much when I wear socks with them.The first time I wore them, the matting on the insole seemed to shed some plant fiber that was irritating to my skin. After the first wearing I did not experience any more shedding and they are very comfortable. I was surprised by how thick and comfortable the footbed it. It has some arch support and is contoured to my feet.Overall, I absolutely love these slippers. I would buy extra pairs for guests to use.UPDATE (29 April 2016):I have had these slippers for less than a year and I need to replace them because I have worn through the bamboo insole region. This makes a bit of a mess since the loose threads shed from them and irritate my feet.
