Beatles solo, yes I liked it!
Other reviewers say the books are insubstantial, that they have little text, but they miss the point. It is an illustrated chronicle, it's in the title. There are some fantastic pictures of the four in their various solo pursuits. An example is Ringo starr with two pages of his work with his friend Marc Bolan another favourite of mine. Each book has a wealth of pictures which are interesting, not for a read through but as a visual record it is an excellent collection, and at a fiver a hard back book on amazon what's to lose, give it a try.

beatles solo: together!
A lovely presentation with slip case, excellent artwork and design. As with all 'beatle' books, contains odd 'snippets' and pics not seen before. All this for less than £20! Excellent!

A Triumph Of Style Over Substance
There is no question that this set of 4 books, presented in a slipcase, is beautifully designed. However, anyone looking for a detailed history of the solo careers of John, Paul, George and Ringo will be disappointed. Each book is just under 100 pages, so there is little room for detail. Some of the pictures are interesting but many have been seen before. Ultimately, the set looks very attractive and impressive, but the books will probably stay on your shelf gathering dust after you have thumbed through them once or twice. A real missed opportunity to delve in depth into The Beatles solo careers.

beautifull pack with nothing inside
I was waiting a very good book about solo beatles career, is not the case, you got only a hard book with a few pages of information that all we know and some colour photos, nothing rare, avoid this.

Slightly dissapoining
If you're a Beatle fan you be dissapointed. There isnt an iota of new info that I wouldn't know from other sources. But looks good on the shelf, all four books are hard-covered, put together in a harcover box hence its a few kilos more on my bookshelf. Plus all the photos are razor sharp, layout is nice, font is a reader-friendly. Well ... its not so bad overall. Minus one star for heaviness.

the reviews were not too good for this, but I am a Beatles Lover and I probably will not even take the plastic off, so I am happy with it. the price was well below what I would have paid for it at the store too

One for Each and For Each His Own!
I've looked around a lot and found that this out-of-print set of books is getting harder and harder to find. I have seen lower prices than the price I paid, but not for the same Like New condition. As far as could tell, the copy I received was displayed but probably never opened. Now the set itself: This is the only set that focuses on the Beatles post-breakup and gives each Beatle his own book. Each book is roughly the same size, so clearly the McCartney book is not comprehensive and there's a little stretching involved in covering Ringo. But to me there is adequate justification for each. Ringo worked with the other Beatles post-break up far more than any of the others, so giving better coverage to Ringo also provides further context for the others. Also if there were ever a musician who deserves more recognition and respect than Ringo. As for McCartney, there is plenty about him available elsewhere, including an exhaustive, if somewhat out of date, authorised biography.

Five stars if you're a tween or new Beatle fan
For the experienced Beatle fan and amateur Beatle historian this book is a maximum of two stars. However, if the owner is going to be a person between the ages of 12-15 or someone just looking to begin learning about The Beatles, this is a five star book. It is written in simple language and doesn't get into the nitty-gritty of their lives. It covers all their major albums and film releases and is well illustrated, but for someone looking for dense information and fact-finding, this is an absolute pass-over. I'd recommend any of Mark Lewisohn's Beatle books in its place.

Beatles Solo Book
A must have for any Beatles fan who thinks they have seen it all about the Beatles. I urge Beatle fans to buy this book it was well worth it.
