not accurate. It will only give you a good guess at what the current actually is. Mine reads 17 amps when my fluke amp probe reads 20I decided to try to see if I could discover why the meter is inaccurate. I discovered that the problem was with the meter movement. It was not repairable but I needed an amp meter that I could mount remotely with out running the current carrying wire a long distance to connect in series with an amp meter. This instrument satisfies that requirement. so I decided to take a chance and get another one that might work. This time I got lucky. The meter works fine and reads very close to what my Fluke meter says it should read. It is really great that this meter can be remotely mounted. The instructions say the short leads that come attached to the current transformer can be extended up to 50 feet. There is about 7 feet between the current transformer and the meter on my set up and it is working perfectly. Now I am happy
