The problem is that medical research has yet to clinically prove the effectiveness of the dietary supplements in the treatment of osteoarthritis. That is not to say that it does't have a real positive impact for some people, or in my case for dogs. As I read the other reviews of successes in people, I can say that I too have had similar successes in dogs. As a result, I always try it on my patients and if after 30+ days I haven't seen any positive effect, knowing that some of them will not respond, then we move on to more aggressive medical management. But for those that it does work, I find the Kirkland brand to be well respected, inexpensive, and a very easy to use product.
