Would Brio people be able to fit in the cars?

No - the Brio people are not as narrow as the animals, therefore the people can't sit properly in the cars. I guess you could lie them on their side, but then their arms get in the way. The cars are not designed for the Brio people. I am working from memory because the train set is at grandchildren's house and I can't test it right now.

It appears that there is no track included in this set. Is that correct?

yes that is correct. My 2 1/2 year old grandson loves it. I've bought some track and a few other cars for the set.

Do the farm cars "hook" together or is there a magnet that connects them?
