Great for Beginner Aquarists looking to cycle their tank!
I have used Dr. Tim’s Ammonium Chloride in two separate tanks. First my 5-gallon freshwater tank, and now my 10-gallon and it worked exactly as advertised. This product is perfect for anyone doing a fishless cycle using bottled nitrifying bacteria. ✅ Pros: Accurate dosing: The included dropper cap makes it easy to measure the right amount. The instructions are clear—4 drops per gallon for 2 ppm of ammonia. Safe & pure: No added dyes or surfactants that could harm beneficial bacteria. Speeds up cycling Great for beginners: It helps to follow the schedule instead of guessing if it is working or not. This is not a stand-alone cycling product—you’ll need to add a nitrifying bacteria culture or have an established filter for faster cycling. Test your water regularly with a liquid test kit to monitor progress. I love the API Freshwater Kit. If you're serious about fishless cycling, Dr. Tim’s Ammonia is a reliable and safe option that gives you full control over the process. It took the stress out of my first fish tank cycle, and I’d definitely use it again for future setups.

Very good for fishless cycling
Works perfect for fishless cycling! I now have two cycled tanks and so much ammonia left. I’m so happy. Honestly, they could be sold in smaller bottles because I didn’t need that much for my 20 gallon, 5 gallon, nor 10 gallon. My nitrate levels are still kind of high though

Top quality for fishless cycling :)
This did the job for continuing my fish-less cycle. I had started the cycle using food but was recommended this and I’m so glad I went with it - my tank cycled itself within a week or two after pivoting to this product (7 weeks total to cycle). I wasn’t getting any good readings before this stuff entered the process :)

Cycle must have!
I love Dr Tims! Precise dosing has always been easy and I have never had a problem getting to the correct PPM. I’ve only ever used Dr Tims as an ammonia source, and coupled with added beneficial bacteria, my tanks always cycle in about 2-3 weeks!

Solid product
This is a solid product that is good for setting a good baseline with initial ammonia ppm combined with starter bacteria to tell when and how fast the nitrogen cycle is happening. I personally dosed the initial two PPM of Dr Tim’s and then dosed stability for a week as recommended. After a week ammonia was gone and nitrites were at 2PPM. Week after that my nitrates started dropping and I repeated doses of Dr Tim’s once below the 2 PPM of ammonia and nitrites until both measured zero within 24 hours, that took another week and a half. I’m using a Fluval fx4 with Seachem matrix for media and purigen along with a sponge filter filled with Seachem matrix.

Cycled my tank faster.
Someone on my fish group recommended it. My old tank leaked and I was setting up my new tank. I only needed a few drops. Worked so well to bring the ammonia level down. I put my fish in after a few days. Buy it!

So much easier than ghost feeding for fishless cycles
This makes cycling predictable with less water testing. I do wish it came with instructions from start to finish, as people use it to cycle tanks. This tiny product was also very expensive compared with dollar bottles on the market (could be dangerous for your tank if you are unaware of the scents and additives they have). But I definitely got quicker results and fast cycling for a new tank.

Used this and Tetra safe start to cycle my aquarium in 16 days. I followed the instructions from Dr Tim’s exactly. Glad it was affordable too since I couldn’t find anything in stores.

I wouldn't cycle an aquarium any other way. Fishless cycles are the only way to do this without harming or stressing your fish, and this ammonium source works. Obviously don't use this with fish in the tank! Note that some ammonia detection methods (like the SeaChem ammonia alert) won't show ammonium chloride and only detect free base ammonia. The standard API test kit does detect ammonium chloride.

I killed many fishes trying to start tanks. This worked like a charm.
