Walking in the Algarve: 30 Coastal and Inland Walks in the South of Portugal (Cicerone Walking Guides)

Excellent for Hiking in EU
I want to use it for finding and walking hiking trails in the Algarve region in Portugal. I am not going back there until July, but looking at the book the descriptions of the trails seem good. Also, I have heard good feedback from others using the book on FB.

As useful, and stimulating, as a transit map
It will win no prizes for travel writing, but the banal descriptions here are surprisingly accurate as far as they go: walk for roughly so many minutes, look for this restaurant, turn here. A few more illustrations for inspiration and landmarking would be nice, but admittedly the idea is to go out and discover on your own. The microscopic scale of the maps is another drawback. Both are compromises to the definitely practical pocket size. Some space and irritation could have been saved by not repeating the same warning about staying away from the cliff edges, and reminding the reader to plan for the return trip. That space could have been more usefully filled with more flexible choices on entry and exit points. Also be aware that most of the popular routes are very well sign-posted. Even so, for the price I found this a valuable and convenient back-pocket reference.

Good but a very small book
The content of the book is good but for the price I expected a bigger book, at least hardback.

Great walks but too fine a print
I cannot read the book without a magnifying glass, so it's pretty useless for me. My husband has been reading it holding the book close

Good for day walks
Handy to have for day trips walking in the Algarve. Not too many detailed books out there.

Maps in this book are just a red line outlining the walk. Not a MAP
Hard to know if this book is usable, the map of each walk, is in fact a sketched outline of the route, not a map, as in the other hiking books from this publishing house, which relate to the UK
