Choose Something Else!!!
I've used this slicer maybe 5 times over the past several months & with each use it just keeps getting worse! Every time the grinding sound & vibration from the unit increases as well as the blade stoppage. Now it's so bad that it is grinding when the blade is just sitting there turning with no load on it....when meat is applied with almost ANY pressure the blade just stops and sits there grinding. Every once in a while the blade will catch & start to cut the meat again for a couple seconds. In my opinion it is very unsafe & someone could easily get really frustrated and end up getting an appendage sliced off! I took off the blade assembly but the gear doesn't really appear to be stripped or anything, but it sounds like the gear teeth are barely meshing. Another infuriating thing about this slicer is that the box touts, "non-slip suction feet for stable operation"...fat chance! Mine came with curved, rubber feet(like in the website picture), which means, due to the crazy blade vibration, the whole unit dances all around the surface that it's on...this is another thing that adds to the danger of this thing. Every few seconds you have to turn your attention from cutting in order to spin the slicer back around again in order to get back to work. As a 3rd thing...the recessed power switch is pretty inconvenient as well...it's hard to get to & my hands are usually covered with raw meat juices & don't really want to get that stuff on the switch, so end up having to jam my knuckle into the recess & try to activate the switch. When I purchased this slicer I was hoping that I would get a tool to help me quickly cut beef easily into uniform slices for making beef jerky, but instead I got a dangerous headache which is easily the most frustration & unreliable appliance in our kitchen....wish that I could send it back but it's probably way too late for that. I would NOT purchase this slicer if you are thinking about it.

you get what you pay for, i guess??
The motor on this is very weak , i watched many videos on meat slicers and usage, so i thought it would be a good appliance to have around the house since i like to buy bulk meats and freeze them to save money. many people i talked to said i have to freeze the meat to help the slicer cut it better, well it didnt work, i couldnt even get half an inch cut before the blade stopped spinning and begging for mercy. on the 2nd try i tried to cut the defrosted meat which cut it better but i probably could cut it straighter with a knife. 3rd try spam(hawaiian steak) even this was a bit of challenge because of the slow spinning blade. needless to say it is going back since it pretty much wasted a $150 slab of ribeye which i have to defrost and probably cook right away. i guess you get what you pay for and unless you really need one and have at least a weekly use for it might be worth the $30+ but for me it was just a wasted experiment i guess. if anyone does decide to buy it the cleanup is pretty simple but food can get behind the blade and fall into places that cant be cleaned even though the blade is replaceable. also i would recommend some kind of anti bacterial spray or sanitizer that the restaurants have to ensure no bacteria stays on the machine, also this machine has rubber feet so sometimes it will slide when cutting, i was hoping for at least suction cup feet but it did not have any.

Nice non-commercial unit...
Was hard to decide how to rate this unit. First off it is refurbished but it looks and runs like new. Understand it's no Hobart(commercial units) but it also didn't cost $1900. It is a little under powered...but it's a home unit and won't be used heavily. As you can see it was able to slice Monterey cheese...that in itself sold me. Don't plan on cutting fast just easy steady strokes. Clean up was easy because of the blade and platform removable design. It's always scary cleaning one of these blades so be very carefull. Having worked in a professional kitchen I will remind you to clean everything on this unit after slicing and between different meats, cheeses, veg...etc. you don't want cross contamination. Considering the price($50 refurbished) and it's not a commercial unit, I decided to give it five stars.Happy deli slicing...R.G.IAWFilmWorks

Reconditioned, Better then New.
I have always had good luck with manufacturer reconditioned products, and this appears to be no exception. I have not used the product yet, but it arrived very well packaged and safe from damage. I was very pleased during my initial inspection of the slicer. I purchased this slicer to slice venison from this year's hunt, and believe it is a great purchase for the price. If it performs as well as it looks, I believe I will be using it for years to come.

Great Buy! A $35.00 gem!
It usually takes me a couple of weeks to use most products that I order online, but I immediately opened this package because I have never bouth a refurbished or reconditioned piece of equipment/appliances. First of all phew because the slicer was packaged well withut damage, the cslicer looks brand new and finally to put a smile on my face it is light weight, easy to store and works beautifully. I bought a small slab of bacon to slice just to teat the machine and I am very satisfied. If you were like me and are leery of butying reconditioned/refurbished items, rest assured that this device at $35.00 is a very good buy. I am really pleased!

Not bad at all.
Better than its relative price might suggest. Had to put a little vegetable oil on the slide for it to operate smoothly. Slicer did a good job slicing some homemade bacon that I had no idea how I would have dealt with otherwise. We'll use it for other things in the future.

Good, except for the slider.
Nice item for the price. The blade spins pretty slow, but cuts well nonetheless. The biggest problem I see is the sliding back and forth mechanism doesn't slide very well. I suppose I could grease it up, but it seems like I shouldn't have to.

Decent for the money
It's a basic slicer. Your not going to be doing a large amount of slicing with this slicer. There are a lot of plastic parts and it is easy to bog the motor while slicing. If you don't have high expectations then it's worth the few bucks. If your looking for something that will be getting used often I suggest a more expensive style slicer.
