So I can't really review it, but I wanted to start a review that I will follow up on.First of all, I'm not the only person who has noticed this, as I read the same thing in another review after I already placed the order. But the capsules are only 125mg, not 250. The bottle does say serving size 2 capsules - 250mg, so if you're paying attention you'll know that. Not really a complaint, but an observation on that one.My first experience with Niagen was quite some time ago. It was when it first appeared on the market. I had read about it somewhere and wanted to try it. It was very expensive at that time and as far as I know, only one of two sellers. I think I paid $55-60 for 30 capsule which were only 50mg each. I really did not know much about dosages at the time, as there wasn't much information available back then. And there's still not enough information about dosage, so hopefully that situation will improve with more people experimenting with it. That initial experience for me is that I had no results. And I wonder if the dosage was too low. I took 2 bottles, the first month using just the one capsule of 50mg. Then I ordered another bottle and increased the dosage to 100mg for another 15 days. Nada, I didn't notice anything.So that's how I got here. I noted that there has been some encouraging trials with this substance and that it's showing some promise, in that it actually does increase NAD+ levels in humans. Also, the price has fell a lot, although it's still quite pricey. Then, there's dosage and I'm still not sure on it, though what I'm hearing is that to be effective, the dosage needs to be at least 250mg and maybe as high as 500mg.My plan then is to start with 500mg for the first month and then 1g for another month. I really don't like messing around with things like this. Either it works, or it doesn't. At 1g if I'm not getting any benefit after one month following one month of 500mg, then I figure either one of two things. It doesn't work for me or the dosage is too low and would be prohibitively expensive at a sufficient dosage for humans. It would really be nice to know the right dosage for optimum effect in humans. But so far as I can tell, no one really knows, yet.Anyway, as soon as my order arrived I took 4, so 500mg. I'll never be able to say this time around that it has no effect. Because it made me sort of nauseous and light headed after about 10 minutes, which lasted about 20 minutes and now I feel normal. It sort of reminded me of the effect I've had taking high dosages of vitamin D, like 10,000 iu. So there's that, for what it's worth.I'll report back here after 2 weeks, after 1 month, and after 2 months. I set the review at 5 stars for now because it's not fair to give negative ratings for someone's product, which you have not tried yet. I'll adjust that as I go, if necessary. ### ⭐ I know Niagen isn't safe for me. *by C***D on Reviewed in the United States πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ on February 4, 2016* First, I'm not a subject matter expert in the endocrine system. I am a fairly smart guy who just happens to have been an insulin dependent diabetic since summer of 2000. I've managed (through working out 6 days per week in perpetuity) to keep my average glucose readings between 120-135 where 100 is considered normal (according to my doctors). Those near normal readings have come with insulin dosages / day ranging from 30-40 units per day. 5 days after taking Niagen I noticed my glucose readings spiking between 200 and 300 so I increased my insulin dosages accordingly to get it back in line. On day 7 of using Niagen I noticed nearly 70 units of insulin per day my glucose readings were still well over 300. I tried everything. Switching out insulin (that was still well within operational usage dates), changing infusion sets, etc. Nothing worked and I was getting concerned. On day 9, with glucose readings well over 400 and spiraling out of control while taking more than 3x my normal insulin intake, I decided to stop taking the only new variable in this equation - Niagen. Within 24 hours my glucose readings returned to normal on normal amounts of insulin usage (30-40 units). I think this demonstrates a very strong correlation that Niagen may not be safe for insulin dependent diabetics. I was not sick during this time. I know being sick can falsely drive up glucose readings. The only thing that worked to return my readings to normal was the removal of the only new variable in my system and that was Niagen. I have no idea whether Niagen does what it claims or not - I wasn't on it long enough to determine that, but I know it isn't safe for me. Insulin-dependent diabetics should be careful before deciding to take this product - consult your doctor and discuss with them the use-case I've presented here. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Daily dairy of a new user *by M***R on Reviewed in the United States πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ on November 22, 2016* The results are noticeable so I plan to update this review at periodic intervals.Day 2 - 11/21/2016: Taking 1 pill a day for the past two days. Significant improvement in focusing on tasks. Got more work done in the past two days than in the past two weeks. Got a mathematical model that I was planning to work on for the past year or so finally done. This task was a major achievement as I never had the focus to tackle it before although I had the skills. Notice less fatigue and more energy through out the day. I would usually crash at this time of day (9PM) but I seem to keep going. Weight: 173 lb (tracking this as some research points to weight reduction, I always measure as soon as I get out of bed in the AM).Day 5 - No meds today. Crashed at 7pm.Day 8 - 11/21/2106: Took an extra pill last night. Wow. Went to bed around mid-night and woke up about 530 feeling fresh and ready. Since it was a Sunday, went back to bed again. Also got some clear dreams that I was able to recollect, usually forget them when I wake. I read about this effect but I thought it was hyperbole. Each pill is only 125mg! This is misleading marketing to say the least. So I am upping my effective daily dose to 250mg ... one pill in the AM and one in the PM. Weight: 174.5 lb (I blame Thanksgiving!).
