Miss Big mouth strikes back
Alanis = Jagged Little Pill. That is and will always be her finest moment, the record that literally everyone who knows her instantly associates her with. 25 years on, and 8 since her last set, the promo singles suggested that this could be a glorious comeback. Guess what... it is.As someone who lost interest after the unexciting "So called chaos", but kept supporting her throughout the decades, "Pretty forks..." is a return to form. "Flavours of entanglement" was the last great set I remember, and the last before that was waaaay back in 2001 ("Under rug swept"). This new one is better than both. There has been an immense shadow for 25 years hanging over her with the legacy she has been forced to uphold. My personal favourite Alanis record is "Supposed former infatuation junkie". Listen to "Reckoning", "Nemesis", and the triumphant "Reasons I drink" single, and if they don't take you back to the 1995 and 1998 greatness, I will shut up. This 11-track set is among her very best, simply put."Pill" became a seminal album, arguably the most celebrated angst-ridden album of recent times. A landmark for the '90s generation, who crowned Alanis Morissette as the voice of an era that explored and expressed the emotional wreckage of youth and femininity in such an arresting manner, that her personal experiences became universal. In her 40s and a mum, everyone's favourite rock chick is back and sounds just as fantastic as she did when she was 20. And no, it's not ironic!PS: Collectors look out for the purple vinyl available through her website, it's a beauty.

Fantastic album! Possibly my favourite Alanis album!🤗
Wow! I have always admired alanis morissette, and am grateful to her for creating such brilliant music for people to enjoy. Music brings joy and happiness! I must say I particularly like jagged little pill...😊but there were some amazing songs on supposed former infactuation junkie ie front row and thankyou...I didn't think the following albums were bad at all, just not played as often SORRY ALANIS ,although guardian from havoc and bright lights I think is wonderful. Then I buy and play such pretty forks in the road! I can honestly say I was not expecting it to be an album of such sheer brilliance! I hoped it would be great but as soon as it began to play, I realised this had a different sound and was not quite the same as anything heard before, in previous albums. It was worth the 8 year wait! - but I hope if another album is made it may not be in another 8 years! Alanis's voice is strong and so are the songs. My particular favourites are smiling, ablaze, reasons I drink(and the videos are great!🤗), losing the plot and nemesis... oh my goodness, the work of a genius! Thankyou Alanis... good luck with the tour , and all the very best. I hope to see you live one day,and overcome my agoraphobia. 'Thankyou'

Alanis’ best album in 25 years
I'm going to come out and say it: best Alanis Morissette album since Jagged Little Pill. This is, from beginning to end, a brilliantly written, recorded and delivered record and, undoubtedly, one of the biggest and most pleasant surprises of this year. The opening track, Smiling, sets the scene for the whole album; a classily orchestrated song with plenty of the wow factor. If you listen to the first song and aren't immediately hooked, I'd be surprised. This is the top quality record that we've all been waiting for, that we've seen glimpses of, that we knew she was capable of. It's a brilliant record, very different to Jagged Little Pill, of course, but she's twenty-five years older now. It's lush, understanding and emotive rather than angsty and indignant at life's injustices, but it's unmistakably Alanis... and it's wonderful.

A superb, thought-provoking album for these Covid times and beyond.
I already knew this album well enough to know it was likely to be a five star experience, and it is! Above all else, the songs are lyrically and musically stunning. More than that, the album feels very personal and, as a result, pleasingly complex. I bought the CD rather than the MP3 version so I would get the album booklet with song lyrics. The songs are really in my mind right now which I take to be a sign of how I'll be playing this for years to come. Finally, search out for the online video of Alanis performing 'Ablaze' with her small daughter on her knee. It's so beautiful and uplifting!
