Part of my line of work. It's nice to have something very quick that can test exposed wires before I have to cross them. This works fairly quickly. Very cheap though. You can actually easily make one yourself. It's just nice

All I need to safely check for electrical power.
Wires and probe tips are long enough to keep me at a safe distance from electricity. I use this to check for presence of electrical power. For anything further it’s time for me to call in a pro.
