A winner!!!
Again, another winner from space flight writer Colin Burgess(Disclaimer, we are friends). How does NASA select its astronauts? A highly mysterious process that is largely unknown to this day. In 1962, a follow up group was selected to the Mercury 7 and in 1963, another 14 astronauts were selected. In this very comprehensive and readable book, Burgess names the finalists and tells their stories up until the present day. Again, some outstanding candidates did not become astronauts but continued to contribute in the military and civilian life. Ranging from the surface of the Moon, to the war in Vietnam and the events of 9/11, this is a very essential addition to any space buff's reference library and I recommend it highly...

Well done!
Full of information that brought together the story of the United States race for the moon. A wonderful history well preserved.

Title had virtually nothing to do with subject matter.
Did NOT discuss preparing NASA's astronauts...mostly discussed people who did NOT make said missions. Quite bizarre title for said book.

Interesting, but.......
Mainly a collection of biographies of applicants who were not selected for the early space programs. Little to nothing on the preparation of those that were chosen. Certainly a misleading book title.
