LuminarcAlto 12 Ounce Goblet, Set of 4, 12-Ounce, Clear

Call me olde school, but I prefer the 12 ounce balloon wine glasses for everyday use, for both reds and whites, with the minimum amount of adornment and glass between the luscious liquid and me. Had minimalist crystal glasses for many years, but the law of breakage (one every two-three years on average) finally got the better of my collection. Hence my search of the right size and a larger number of glasses. Preferred crystal over common glass for its light weight, thinness, and forgiving nature when tipped over.Found the Luminarc Alto on Amazon for a good price and did not expect much since it is not crystal. Now, after five months of use, my report is they are surprisingly nice. Slightly thicker rim and bowl compared to my last, lone crystal 12 ouncer. But lightweight, the stem is thin, and, amazingly for glass, they are somewhat forgiving with slight miscobobbles. On more than one occasion, I've bumped these against a faucet or they've gone over on the tile counter. Each time, I expected to put shards of glass into the wastebasket. Not yet.Very good value for the money. I bought another set for a spare -- hey, I hope to outlive these guys at my average breakage rate. And as for packing, each glass was wrapped in bubble wrap and the whole case wrapped as well, then boxed. No breakage whatsoever for me.

I just wanted to pick up a dozen wine glasses for a party, couldn't find any worth the price in area stores...so on to Amazon. I was worried about ordering glassware online, and especially after reading MANY of the reviews on cheap looking and broken glasses!! But alas...the package arrived today and I was SO impressed I felt the need to write an immediate review! I could tell instantly when I picked up the box it was packed well, but I shook it anyway to see if I could hear any broken glass...nope! Not only was the box wrapped carefully in bubble wrap then placed in an Amazon box, when I opened the glass box, EACH individual wine glass was encased in bubble wrap as well!! The glasses are much nicer looking than I expected with a wonderful weight, and not a single crack!! LOVE LOVE LOVE so much I may just order another dozen! I think my friends break more wine glasses than these folks! Thank you for a job well done from a customer wary of what might arrive!!

Stop with choosing the “features” They make no sense to me and I don’t like rating them. How can a wine glass be sturdy AND sheer? Who cares about the packaging--and do you mean the glasses or the shipping?They are fine for the price, but I would prefer something a bit more “sheer”, or as I would say, delicate. The stem is nice enough, but the goblet part is too thinck to be something I would use for anything but an everyday wine.

I purchased 12 cases of these for a wine tasting event and they were an excellent choice. The bowl shape enables swirling of the wine and the smaller size doesn't make a tasting pour look like just a drop or two. There are plenty of imperfections in these glasses and my glasses arrived in various shipments packaged in a variety of ways - from individually wrapped to no protection whatsoever. Still, only a few glasses arrived broken (and the amount of packaging didn't seem to make that much difference). I ended up returning one case of glasses that included four that were broken or chipped and the remainder had minor flaws - lumps on the rim mostly. Amazon quickly replaced the returned case. I would buy these glasses again, without hesitation, for a use like this. If you order these, don't expect fine stemware, but at this price, for a big party, wine tasting or casual restaurant use, these are a great bargain. Packaging specifies that these are white wine glasses, but their shape makes them a nice all purpose glass with the shape of a small Bordeaux glass.

If you need an all purpose, everyday wine glass that you can use and not have to worry about breaking, this set is perfect. I like to have a set of glasses that I can use everyday and not have to be upset when one I knock one on the floor, etc. Sure, I have another set for special dinners, but at $16.99 for 12, this set is the one we use everyday. Recieved all 12 from Amazon with no breakage!

I was looking for wine glasses as a gift to my mother...she wanted multipurpose (both red and white -appropriate) glasses to use for parties and entertaining. I ordered 24 glasses and when the glasses arrived, they were in the original cardboard boxes with very little padding - only a small plastic air pack and only around 1/2 of the box. One of the glasses had crumbled into tiny pieces in the box during shipping. Be aware of this when ordering...since we'd have to pay for shipping to exchange the broken set of 12, we ended up just keeping 23 intact glasses vs. the 24 I'd ordered.Also, although these say "12 oz goblet" on the description, the actual glasses are specifically for white wine, which you'll see when you order them.
