If you leave your downspout, how will water get to the chain? I do not have a downspout. Some people have them lead to a rain barrel, mine goes into a pot filled with rocks that then flows downhill. **Q: Does any rain chain adapter fit with any rain chain?** A: It fit right into the spout opening fine. **Q: What is the thickness of the rings and cup?** A: They are at our cabin in Idaho and I'm in Florida so I can't say exactly. I know they work perfectly and have survived a winter of ice and snow.
