GM Turbo 350 Transmissions: How to Rebuild and Modify

A good source for transmission rebuilds. I request an updated version with MORE explanation and pictures!

This is a thorough rebuild manual that details how to perform all tasks with either basic shop tools, or how to make the necessary tools with basic shop tools. It makes a good supplement to factory service data.

The book was delivered on time and in new condition. The price of the book was very reasonable compared to all the information it contained. I am the process of rebuilding a big block motor so I thought I would attempt the transmission next. I have never tore into a transmission before but after reading thru the book I think I will have enough info to complete the rebuild of my transmission. There are special tools that you need to help withthe tear down and assembly of your transmission so I was a little irritated that no specs were given to help build your tools. As a toolmaker in the skilled trades I can figure out what I need to build fixtures and jigs. There is a bunch of info on the web for tool design for spring compressors so it takes a little bit of research to find the right one. I will reevaluate this book once I complete my rebuild on my transmission.

Was great to have this handy for the TH350 rebuild. Only minor complaint is not enough photos. My own massive photoset from the methodic part by part tear down saved me a few times for bearing, thrust washer, and a few other item orientations that were not detailed in this book for the occasional rebuilder like me. However, that being said, the explanations and instructions were invaluable to have during the project. Definitely worth the purchase. Just make sure to take lots of pics, notes and bag and label every part as a matter of good practice. Doing this and having this book will make a TH350 rebuild doable for anyone with the right tools and a bit of knowhow.

Really only address's the 70's transmissions.Big gaps on the 80's trans. 350C, 250CBut overall a good hands on shop manual.Ron Sessions book is more detailed but this has much better pictures and descriptions.You should have both if this is your first 350 Trans.
