Small Size and Serious Power!
The Astro Pneumatic Tool 1828 Onyx 3/8" Nano Impact Wrench absolutely exceeded my expectations. For such a compact tool, it delivers impressive power. It fits easily into tight engine bays and small spaces where a larger impact just won’t fit, which makes it perfect for automotive work and quick repairs. The build quality feels solid and durable, and it has a comfortable grip that makes it easy to control. Despite its small size, it has more than enough torque for removing bolts and fasteners without struggling. It also runs smoothly without excessive vibration. If you’re looking for a lightweight, compact impact wrench that still packs a punch, this one is a great addition to any tool collection. Definitely a solid buy for both DIYers and professionals. Definitely the best value for your money!

My new favorite tool
I've stopped using an air ratchet completely, and this replaces many of my regular ratchet jobs (for loosening, mostly). This thing is amazingly small, and I think probably makes as much or slightly more power than advertised - when properly oiled. I thought Astro Pneumatic was one of those cheap-o generic names, but no way; this is *awesome*, especially for the price. And it's amazingly small. I bought it specifically to use with some bolt extractors on a rusty exhaust manifold in a tight space, but I've found that the light weight and small size makes it useful for lots of things. I picked up some impact wobble extensions from Harbor Freight (even HF can't screw up an extension) as well as several sets of the Astro low-profile sockets and the Gear Wrench x-drive pinless universal joint, and this thing is getting used everywhere. I specifically like the lever-style torque settings on the back; they make a real difference, unlike some impact guns where they should have one useful setting and several labeled as useless. I run on lug nuts with the thing set on 2 (out of 3) to keep the speed down a bit, and after just a couple of hammers, they end up just snug enough (60-ish ft-lbs) that I can set the car down and use a torque wrench the rest of the way. The light weight is great; I have a magnesium Snap-On 1/2" drive impact, and while it'll either remove or break off anything I'm gonna encounter on regular automobiles, it does get a bit heavy when you're upside-down twisted around a driveshaft with dirt falling in your face. This thing, in combination with a Flexilla high-flow swivel coupler (you *need* high-flow fittings for an impact gun, and that swivel is easily the best-flowing one anyone makes) can get into a tight space and not make you feel like your arm is going to fall off. I replaced an alternator bracket oil gasket on my BMW N62 recently (which is about a 12 hour job), and used this for pretty much the whole job. It saved a ton of time and effort compared to trying to use ratchets, snaked around all the stuff jam-packed into an E60 engine compartment. As some others have mentioned, it's a tad loud, I guess, but the big Snap-On is far louder. Really, I consider this gun average for an impact gun. The noise is not as annoying as my air ratchet, which, as mentioned, I no longer use. It's also really well made. The picture makes it look like maybe plastic, but it's a textured finish on a metal case. The trigger feels good, the balance is good, the "shiny part" looks sort of like nickel or black chrome and is well machined, and overall you can tell that it's well-made by people who give a damn about their product. I've banged it around a little in the weeks I've been using it, and while there are a couple of little scratches, it's held up well. I've also sold a few friends on this thing, because I can't stop talking about how much I like it. :D I would've been happy if I'd paid $250 for the thing; the fact that it typically has a 2-digit price is just amazing to me. Buy one. You won't be sorry.

Great compact impact
Very compact and powerful for its size! Works well in engine bays to sneak into places a normal impact won't fit.

Just buy it!
This is a great and strong impact. I do oil it every couple of days. I use it mostly in spaces that are tight, but also use it just because it is what's on my tool cart at the moment. Gets used mostly for brake jobs, but has no problems with most C/V axle nuts or using an on vehicle hub bearing press. This is the second one I've bought. The first one still works after years of use, but has become weaker due to heavy use. NOT unexpected for automotive tools that get used sometimes not how they are meant to be used and abused. Just buy it. Keep it oiled, and expect to love it.

Small, strong, durable, affordable.
I rarely write reviews but this little guy deserves one. It is my workhorse. I've worked on cars for a living for twenty years. For the past six, this has been my go-to gun for everything that doesn't need the 'real' 1/2" impact. Which is an Ingersoll 2235 a.k.a. the doom bringer. Make no mistake, this thing can still snap m10 bolts. Stuff like m12 and m14 caliper bracket bolts you can pretty much beat with impunity, though. If you own 1/2" wobble sockets and you don't own this thing, you're making a mistake. After six years, I finally had one of the hammers crack. That is an unbelievably long life for something so cheap and so abused. The only other problem I ever had was that the screws for the hammer casing needed a couple of retorques before they quit loosening up on me. After it broke I immediately opened up my phone to order a new one. Hope this one lasts another six.

Like an Altoid--small and curiously strong!
My girlfriend complained my reviews were too long. That hurt a little bit, because I enjoy taking the reader on a journey with me, and in the end hopefully you get a good product review as well as maybe a little laugh along the way. Anyways, I like to believe I'm open to constructive criticism, so here's my new review format--all the facts up front, with all my blah blah blah mumbo jumbo at the end. Hope you enjoy. Pros: --Incredibly small impact wrench -- Great power-to-size ratio --Gets into really tight spots --Affordable --You can carry it in your back pocket Cons: --Maybe not a fair con, but it’s not a replacement for a full size impact Conclusion: Great impact that would make a welcome addition to your tool box. Here’s the blah blah blah part: I’m not a professional mechanic, but I love working on my car and the cars of friends. I’ve recently been phasing out my use of air impact wrenches in favor of cordless models which has worked out great. Unfortunately, the smaller cordless impacts (at least the ones I have) just don’t have the oomf that a comparable sized air impact does. That’s where this Astro impact really shines. I learned of this stubby impact from watching you toob videos of South Main Auto Repair. If you’re a professional mechanic, probably the last thing you want to do is watch another mechanic do their job, but for me, I can spend hours watching that stuff. Anyways, Eric from the channel has this Astro impact and spoke highly about it, so I thought I’d pick one up and try it myself. Wow, this thing is small. You can really squeeze this thing into some tight places. Heck, you know you have a small impact gun when your deep well socket is longer than the gun itself. Of course the first thing I used it on were my lug nuts. They’re torqued to 90ish pounds and no surprise it was able to get them off, but it did have to hammer on them for a moment—it definitely wasn’t instant. It has its limits….it’s not going to remove the nut from a trailer hitch ball (tried it), but to be fair, that’s not really what this is designed for. Where this thing really shines is when you have your head crammed in your wheel well and you’re working on suspension/brake components. If you’ve got a universal swivel socket on this thing, there aren’t many things you can’t reach with it. Remember the scene from Kill Bill where Uma Thurman punches her way out of a coffin? Yeah, using this impact gun is kind of like that. One of the biggest reasons I bought this was for an upcoming timing belt replacement on my car. I needed a stubby impact that would fit between the crank pulley and radiator. This definitely fits, but I haven’t done the job yet so I don’t know if it’s got enough hootzpa to take the crank bolt off—I think the spec says it’s tightened to 180 pounds….but we all know how crank bolts are sometimes. For now, I’m giving it a rating of 4 stars, but if it takes off my crank bolt, I’m updating my review to give it 50 stars. Regardless of how this handles my crank bolt, I still highly recommend this impact gun.

Very compact and fits in tight spots. Removed 50 year old rusted bolts instantly.

Incredibly powerful for the size, with great ergonomics
This little impact has quickly become one of my favorite tools in the shop. It’s smaller in length than my Milwaukee M12 “stubby”, yet it’s actually more powerful than my Snap-On CT9010 mid-torque. Despite the power, it doesn’t whip you around when breaking stubborn fasteners—it delivers torque smoothly and effectively. The grippy texture of the housing plus the rubber grip sleeve make a huge difference in real-world use. Even with oily hands, it stays secure and comfortable, which gives you more control when working in awkward positions. For its size, the power-to-weight ratio is outstanding, and the ergonomics are spot on. This is an absolute win for tight spaces or anywhere you don’t want to wrestle a full-size impact. Highly recommended.

little with big nuts
The front crank seal had gone on the LANDCRUISER 4.5L 1998 so I had to remove a 30mm nut that has done up to 420nm and has been sitting there for 24 years. The idea was to save time by leaving the radiator in place so did not have much room to work. Was not sure this little tool would work but it did easy. It was all over in seconds. Amazing tool will have to find more work for it. I'm going to look after it just got some new air tool oil and found out you can get nail gun oil and air tool oil and they are not the same ? It has paid for it self on this fist job. Hope this helps Jason Hewlett Sydney NSW
