The Snow Queen (Hans Christian Andersen's Fairy Tales) Paperback – January 27, 2015

I had this book as a child and looked for years for a copy in adulthood. I finally found it! It smells exactly like I remembered the pages smelling the pictures are so beautiful. It’sa dark but lovely story.

An excellent and high quality standalone edition of Hans Christian Andersen's Snow Queen. Buyer should be aware that this same story is included in the Fairy Tales (red bound) collection by Everyman's Children's Classics edition by Hans Christian Anderson.

My grandmother sent this particular version of the snow queen to my sisters and I when we were little, and nearly 35 years later I could still remember clearly the haunting images of the Snow Queen peering into a frosted window. So, I bought a copy. The story remains mostly true to the original, which is important for those of us who are purists about our fairy tales. I'm not inclined to share this with most children, but every so often I end up with a child in my class who has a bit of a morbid way to them and will enjoy stories like this.

This book is an intriguing folk tale. The story of Frozen departs from this tale in many ways. But the book is well written, and the illustrations are beautiful. Both this book and the movie represent a journey through the snow, in search of loved ones.

My 3 yr old grandson was thrilled to see the pages of this well made painting activity book come alive with water and a brush. Very well spent time for a grandma and her little one to bond with this hands on project. His mom returned home and wondered who had painted those pretty pictures and told him they would sit down and read the story together when all of the pages had been painted. So glad I found this to have some fun before Christmas. ❤️

Ever since I read Hans Christian Anderson's superlative fairy tale,I fell in love with it.And without anybody telling me,I immediately recognised from where C.S. Lewis got the idea of the cruel white witch in his Chronicles of Narnia.Andreson's tale is magical,mystical,mythopoetic and essentially spiritual.I have come to believe that fairytales are the most adult literature that anyone can read,for they are true to sublime reality.I felt lost in the world of the snow queen and could feel every vibration from the pages seeping into me.Also the graphic illustrations which accompany this edition of Andreson's tale enhances the narrative tenfold.Children and adults will enjoy every sentence and every picture in this wonderful book.

Hans Christian Anderson wrote an excellent book. Beautiful language, lovely storyline, and fabulous illustrations. Inspires creativity, play, and so much more.

This book has amazing pictures and the story is well written. Loving it and my children want to hear again and again. The only downside is that most pictures appear on center spreads, so have to either read or look at the pictures. We like it better when I read, while the kids look at the pictures and are finding various details as the reading goes on. In this respect, the Tinderbox by the same publisher was perfect.

Io faccio collezione di libri di favole illustrati, devo dire che non conoscevo questo illustratore ma è stato una vera rivelazione, i suoi disegni sono meravigliosi, Niente a che invidiare ad Arthur Rackham o ad altri grandi artisti. Il prezzo è davvero buono, tutte le pagine sono a colori. Come sempre i tempi di consegna sono stati perfetti.
