GRE Vocabulary Flashcards Fifth Edition

Okay so if you’ve read the other reviews you’ll know that the cards are flimsy but you get access to the Kaplan GRE app. I bought these cards to supplement my ets test review when I realized my vocabulary could be improved on. The cards are flimsy but not near as bad as you would think. The thickness of the cards is about the same as an index card. Is it premium card stock? No. Will they hold up for what you need them for? Probably. You are getting what you pay for. Although they have been through a couple shuffles and being tossed on the floor by my toddler. Content-wise, these cards are pretty good. Some of the words are simple, others are a little more challenging and advanced. What’s most important is the access to the app, you can download the Kaplan GRE app but you will have to pay $18.99 for access to cards. So it is worth it. In order to use the app you will also need to make a Kaplan account, which is also helpful. With the account you’ll have access to online resources plus a daily GRE question sent to your email. Keeps you sharp. Honestly for $12 this is a great supplemental resource despite the cards being a little flimsy.

As I prepare to apply to PA schools, these GRE Vocabulary Flashcards have been extremely helpful in studying for the GRE. They cover a wide range of words with synonyms, antonyms, and examples, making studying efficient and effective. Their compact size is perfect for studying on the go.

I bought these to use as dinner table conversation. We draw a card and read the word, the front just has the word, type of speech, and the pronunciation. We then go around the table and try to use it in a sentence. When we get back to the card the reader flips it over and the back has the definition, uses it in a sentence, and synonyms. Only complaint is that the words come in alphabetical order so they were some really similar words in a row. We shuffled the deck to solve that problem. Would be great for older students to take 10 cards a week or so and study them.

I agree with the other reviewers saying the cards are a bit on the smaller side, measuring 3 x 2 inches. I do believe, however, that they are a solid choice for studying for the GRE exam. I cannot say if they include a strong choice of words, since I have not yet taken the exam, but most of the words I have studied are new to me and I am glad to be learning them. Their relatively small size does not keep me from studying well and I have fairly large hands, so I think most people should be just fine with the Kaplan vocabulary flash cards.I also made use of the online resources that come with the cards, and I will be taking the included online practice test and following their study plan. Overall, I would highly recommend these to anyone who is preparing for the GRE.

I agree with other reviewers on the fact that the Princeton Review set and Kaplan set have overlap, but some words unique to their set and distinct definitions & examples. I was glad that I got more vocab by getting both sets. I did not have the problems with my box or cards. The cards are sleek and I like that they're lightweight. I can carry them on the go, they are portable.
