Jurassic World [Blu-ray]

"You didn't ask for reality. You asked for more teeth."
Years after Jurassic Park went under, man's hubris and insatiable greed launch Jurassic World - bigger and better and more of a splash than its predecessor and, as is later disclosed, more terrifying. This time, the dinosaur theme park is nestled on an island off Costa Rica. We're introduced to several point-of-view characters, or, as I'd rather refer to them, some annoying people and Chris Pratt. There's the smug, bossy executive (Bryce Dallas Howard) who sort of oversees the joint. And there are her two mopey kid nephews given VIP passes to the park. The one likable figure is ex-Navy man Owen Grady (Pratt) who has transitioned into the revolutionary post of raptor wrangler.DNA tampering and jaw-dropping disrespect for nature dictate that things will soon take a turn for the worse. The impenetrable head scientist (B.D. Wong) is tasked by the financier - the 8th richest man on the planet - with creating a monster feature attraction, is mandated to "make it scarier and cooler." Ergo, the Indominus Rex, 50' long when fully grown, a mutated hybrid what's part T-Rex and part classified (And why is it exactly classified? Who the hell knows?). It dawns on the theme park's horrified think tank that the Indominus Rex is an intelligent entity, as it turns out, a super-predator what relishes killing for sport. It's inevitable that it gets out of its paddock and proceeds to run amok. What's so frightening is that it tricks its way out. So, twenty thousand people trapped on an island... Yikes.Jurassic World annihilated the summer box office, its way of thumbing its nose at its naysayers. For sure, this movie has got flaws, some of 'em serious flaws. But this is the best sequel to the original film. At its heart, Jurassic World is awesome fan service. Unlike the most recent Godzilla - a movie that for most of its running time mercilessly teased us with mere glimpses of its feature creature - we get to eyeball the behemoths in Jurassic World from jump. Sure as tootin' there'll be a sequel; it made too much money for there not to be one. And I wouldn't mind at all if Chris Pratt were there and also that one raptor ("You my boy, Blue."). I WOULD mind terribly if anyone else from this movie showed up because I couldn't stand anyone else.In a way, it's a shame that CGI technology has advanced to this state. Nowadays, we take all that dazzle for granted. But you can't deny that the dinosaurs look amazing, that the Indominus Rex looks menacing as sh--. What I didn't like? I didn't like whenever Vincent D'Onofrio graced the screen as that dickish front man of that private security firm, although, at some level, I did appreciate his smirky, c0ck-of-the-walk Brian Dehenny impersonation. I wasn't as appreciative of Bryce Dallas Howard's doing her impersonal best as the theme park's most dedicated company (wo)man. Here's a drinking game: take a slug whenever she mentions the word "asset."The best moments are reserved for the occasional nod to the original film and for whenever Pratt is hanging out with his dodgy pack of velociraptors and, also, for near the end when Pratt and company attempt a last-ditch effort to take out the Indominus Rex. That entire showdown - of old school vs. new school - is dope and, in fact, is worth the price of admission alone. I am basically sold on Chris Pratt as an action hero. He's effortlessly charming and his humor works and he's solid in the action sequences and I'm willing to give him a chance should he land the Indiana Jones role.More nitpicks off the top of my head:- Hey, concerned about the island's most dangerous experimental predator what's kept isolated in a paddock? No worries, we hired one fat security guard to keep an eye on things.- Who thought it was a good idea to have the CEO, who also happens to be an inexperienced chopper pilot, fly on that do-or-die mission?- The movie wants us to believe that a woman in high heels can outrun a T-Rex.- Anyone catch the scene where Pratt gets off his vehicle just in time to run into a woman with, coincidentally, two rifles, one of which she casually hands off to Pratt in passing?- So, let me get this straight, Jurassic World's upper management - those directly responsible for running the theme park - doesn't have a clue as to what hybrid bits the Indominus Rex is made out of? That seems like an egregious lapse in safety protocol and good judgment.- I got seriously invested in the kids' parents getting a divorce... Bwa-ha-ha-ha! Man, I really disliked these kids and their unnecessary sub-plot.- What does it say about the character work when the strongest emotional connection is between Pratt and his velociraptors? My favorite line? It's Pratt's retort when he's asked to track some missing kids: "I was with the Navy, not the Navajo."I remember, after having watched this movie, getting this sudden urge to purchase a Mercedes and drive it to Starbucks. I wonder why.

Dino-Mite
I recently watched Jurassic World Dominion - Extended Version and let me tell you, it's a real dino-mite of a movie! The extended version gave me even more time to appreciate the incredible special effects and CGI. The T-Rexes, Velociraptors, and Indominus Rexes all looked so real, I was convinced they were about to break out of the screen and start chasing me.The acting was also top-notch, especially the performances of the lead actors. I couldn't help but laugh at the witty banter between characters and the clever references to the previous Jurassic Park movies. The plot was action-packed and kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time.Overall, I highly recommend Jurassic World Dominion - Extended Version to anyone who loves dinosaurs, thrilling action and a good laugh. Just make sure to keep an eye out for any escaped dinosaurs while watching.

Silly but fun
So this is a completely silly movie, but it was fun. Somehow almost the entire prior cast is involved and the impact of the previous events have impacted the globe. Ingen and related corporations are up to no good and fun ensues. I don’t know that this would be my first movie choice but if you’ve invested in the other movies you can’t miss this one

Nice escape from reality.
This movie keeps pace with the adventure thrill this franchise series continues to bring to the screen. Loved it.

Timeless
This movie does not get old and the visual effects are as astonishing now as they were when the movie first came out.

4K: Grain, grain, go away!
So, the movie is great, but this 4K release isn't really what you'd expect in terms of quality. It's not bad, but it's not great. The main reason this isn't getting a higher rating is because there are problems in the picture: somehow, grain has been introduced that didn't previously exist on the BluRay release. In most scenes it isn't noticeable, however, there are scenes in which it turns into noise and becomes incredibly distracting. There are also problems with pixelation in some of these scenes which look like it make have been encoded incorrectly. Claire's dress, for instance, is white - except for the pixels that don't seem to display correctly, which makes it look dappled with blue specs, perhaps this is something to do with the HDR encoding.

Great Update to the Franchise
Although it's sequels lowered the tone and quality a little, the first of the original Jurassic films from Spielberg was incredible (especially for it's time) and was always going to be a pretty tough standard for this new addition to the franchise to be measured against. But I don't think this new film really could have come much closer than it has done to holding up against such comparisons and it's certainly managed to fix a patch over the less enchanting Jurassic Park 2 & 3 sequels - it looks absolutely amazing, with advances in film making and CGI having come so far since the first film, the park has never looked better, the dinosaurs have never looked more lifelike and the film manages to give a true sense of scale to the island and it's inhabitants. Visually, it's a fantastic. And it's great that we finally get to see the park how it was intended to be at last - fully functioning and crammed full of paying guests, many of whom will inevitably of course become dino-snacks for the prehistoric beasts (large and small) they have come to gawp at. The park has a great feel to it and as all the guests excitably explore it's many features and star attractions you can't help but get excited about the fact that at some point you know it's going to all go horribly wrong, which is when the real action will kick in.There is a familiar face or two but the new cast who see us through the unfolding chaos are mostly great - Chris Pratt makes for a great dinosaur trainer/hero with his rough and ready charm and easy humour and there is fairly decent chemistry between him and his female counterpart, Bryce Dallas - the park manager, who together are trying to contain the chaos (and death count) whilst also trying to keep her two nephews safe, who have picked the worst week possible to come and see the island. The older of the two nephews perhaps wasn't quite ready for a film this big but given his age you can't really hold it against him too much. The film might be fairly formulaic but there are some nice nods to the original film along with new and improved dinosaurs (and the addition of some Chris-Pratt-Trained friendly raptors helping to save the day was a nice touch) and the two hours flew by with plenty of action.

New Life Into The Jurassic Park Franchise
I have seen all of the Jurassic Park movies, and for me, besides the original, which is of course still the best, this is the best of the sequels. I really felt the franchise had had its day after two recent disappointing outings back-to-back (Jurassic Park 2 & 3), but this one rekindles (almost all of) the magic of the first one!I love the different setting of this one, and I like the way it completes what was intended with the first 'Jurassic Park' - i.e. a theme park where these dinosaurs are displayed! The new actors also breathe some fresh air into the franchise, as do the new dinosaurs! I won't give any spoilers re:plot, but it's got the usual dose of peril and action as the other films. Just a really enjoyable, easy to watch movie, ideal to relax with a beer and some popcorn with - loved it!

Wrong Product ie Blue Ray 3D and Digital HD
I would like to point out that the Product I ordered was Blue-Ray 3D and Blue Ray Disk and I received the Blu-Ray 3D and Digital download disk, the barcode on the shrink wrap is correct but the contents is only the 3D disk I can only assume that the fault is with the supplier and not Amazon, so if you are after the 3D disk and Blu-ray disk you will only get the 3D disk, and if you look at the photo of the product it is for the Blu-Ray 3D and Blu-Ray disk so be aware you will only get the 3D version, the price of £4.29 is still a bargain.

A GOOD, ENTERTAINING FAMILY FILM, WITH LOTS OF ACTION AND TEETH!
This is a review of the standard Region-free Blu-ray.If you are a fan of the earlier 'Jurassic Park' films, you will also enjoy 'Jurassic World'. In many ways, the older films are formulaic, and this is written and produced very much to that same, highly successful, formula:Take a handsome, hunky alpha male, an attractive but not too ditzy female, and some cute kids of various sizes, add some superb locations, some totally inept authority figures and a large number of teeth. Shake and stir, season with a lot of fake blood, and serve hot and fast.Jurassic World follows this formula to the letter. It has merely increased the size of the teeth, and the numbers of potential victims in jeopardy, with the new Theme Park already operating and in full swing, as the film opens. However, it produces a very entertaining result from this ‘dynos' by-the-numbers, adding a nice little twist by having Velociraptors, formerly one of the arch villains, now being called upon to be part of the solution. ‘Cute Velociraptors’ are probably beyond even Hollywood’s abilities for invention, but this will certainly have improved their profile! All in all, this is a good, entertaining family film, certainly a good choice for a wet Sunday afternoon. Enjoy!
