Are these staples more narrow and slightly shorter than a standard staple?

Yes and no, in that order. Standard staple are about 7/16" across the back and P3 staples are closer to 3/8". The leg length on standard staples varies from approximately 3/16" to about 1/2" while P3 staples are almost always about 3/16'.

They are mape for the Bostitch P3 plier stapler. They are more narrow than a "standard" staple. Width is not very important since is made for a specific stapler. I would measure for you, but my staples are at work. I have use these 2 products for so long, that it is bothersome to use a stand stapler. Easy to hold, easy to compress and will staple quite a thick stack of paper. If you get these staples....get the stapler.
