Jurassic World [Blu-ray] ...
There is much discussion elsewhere on this film in terms of plot summary, meaning, value, and acting, so I won't get into that. My reviews and my ratings for all Blu Ray discs are strictly regarding the quality of the transfer from Standard Definition to Blu Ray. Keep in mind that the quality of what you see and hear also depends upon the quality of TV monitor you are using and its accompanying home theater processor and speakers. I have a pretty high end, 7.1 esoteric system and am judging the Blu Ray off of that. My 5 stars are based upon the quality of the Blu Ray and not necessarily the movie itself.VIDEO QUALITY..... The video quality of this blu ray is hard to beat. There was no need for remastering a company would do for an older film since this film was shot using the latest and greatest film cameras as well as upgrades for the many CGI effects. Color grading and resolution is top notch with vibrant yet realistic colorization and warm and true to life skin tones. Eschewing the artificiality of even the most recent of digital cameras, the filmic look still does not produce any grain that I could see and there were certainly no dropouts or video artifacts that were in any way noticeable. With the many fast action scenes one might suspect that there would be a degree of aliasing and stair stepping, especially in wide angle panoramic shots, but I saw none of these things. Details, even in the darkest of scenes and shadows were very present and sharply contrasted so nothing visual was lost in the move to Blu Ray. In fact, contrast throughout the entirety of the film was excellent. The average Mbps rate, which I checked many times while viewing, appeared to be in the high 30's and often went over that, especially so in the fast action scenes as would be expected.AUDIO QUALITY.... For me, the quality of the audio is equally as important as the video and Jurassic World made the smart move of using a lossless 7.1 DTS HD MA audio for those with 7.1 audio systems. If you are using a 5.1 audio system, there is no need for concern as the extra 2 channels will simply be muxed into the 4 and 5 rear channels of your current system. The advantages of this 7.1 audio make themselves quickly apparent as, especially in the first half of the film, there are a great many audio foley fx that are discreetly sent to the left and right rears as well as sides. Panning between the front and rear audio stages are frequent and very realistic. The LFE sub channel gets down deep in some parts and sounds beautifully clean when doing so. Dialogue is easy to understand and transparent and audio levels are set perfectly so that once you have set the volume of your system to your liking, you will not have to play roller coaster with your remote's volume control. With a fine fitting soundtrack that knows when soundtrack music should take a back seat to the actual sounds and noises of the environment , the audio editors did an excellent job of steering many foley effects to the side and rear channels. This discreet directionality of sound, when appropriate, really enhances your listening pleasure. The audio as a whole serves the purpose of fully immersing you into the Jurassic World environment. Jurassic World is definitely demo worthy for those who want to show off their sound system.EXTRAS..... I was very pleased to see that there were no 'previews' of other films on this Blu Ray. These ads for other films just take up more room on the disc that cause for more compression and quality loss of the film you are actually paying for. Jurassic World is full of extras and I won't say that I have seen them all as yet. The several deleted scenes were fully finished in post production and I believe that, at least some of them, should have been included as part of an extended version. However, their loss does not take away from the film as a whole. Also included as extras were several 'Making of' documentaries that they no longer call 'Making of' but, in fact, that is what they are. These included how many of the special effects were created, the improvements they have made within the CGI post production and commentary of the film. And finally, there is the Digital Disc that is included that allows you to go to the Universal website to upload to VUDU, iTunes and Universal. The redeeming of the code was pretty easy so watching it on your tablet while away from home or flying should work. One never knows about anything in the cloud. Whether you liked the film or not, and I did though I found nothing ground breaking in terms of storyline of effects, the actual quality of this Blu Ray is superb and I gave it 5 stars on that technical basis. I do hope that this review, which focused solely upon the quality of the actual transfer to Blu Ray has been of some help to you in deciding your purchase. All of my reviews are of this nature and I hope they can be of HELP to you as well. Thanks for reading.

Non-stop Excitement from the First Frame to the Last
I didn't get to see Jurassic World in the theater, so my first experience was watching the Blu-ray version when the DVD release came out on October 20, 2015. The film is non-stop fun from the first frame to the last, with only a few predictable moments where it lapse into the "who dies next?" syndrome of horror-survivor flicks. Mostly the filmmakers checked their political baggage at the door, avoiding a persistent flaw in Hollywood releases in the past couple of decades. There's a hint of "evil corporation seeks to maximize profit" but even that silly theme is presented more as the far more factual and realistic "sometimes people are really idiots!" (I worked for NASA for several decades. Trust me; sometimes people in positions of authority can be complete idiots despite having hundreds of experts advising them not to be.) In this case, the idiocy is gene-splicing critters to make a beast even more scary than any dinosaur that ever walked the earth; and then, of course, losing control of it. There is none of the tedious preaching about silly philosophies that spoiled Jeff Goldblum's performance in the original Jurassic Park movie. And perhaps best of all, Jurassic World's writers correctly use personal pronouns! There did seem to be a missing element that I couldn't quite put my finger on until I'd watched the film and all of the fun extras that came with the Blu-ray release: There's no moment of the Grand Reveal. A movie as grand and expansive as this really needs that glorious moment that played so well in the first movie, where after the first encounter with a brontosaurus, Richard Attenborough says "Welcome to Jurassic Park!" and the camera pans to a grand vista of all the dinosaurs gamboling on the savannah. Sure, it's been done; but if you're going to make a movie like this, do it again! It's a grand moment that sells the entire film to come. Jurassic World does have a moment of Grand Reveal, but instead of seeing the wonders of the natural world, we see a sprawling man-made theme park. Cool, but hardly as engaging as all those critters in their natural environment.Never sit next to an engineer at an SF movie: Although I thoroughly enjoy these dinosaurs movies, I do have to work to suspend disbelief when I accept the notion that, if we really could clone these huge beasts today, that they could survive in modern world. The issue that haunts my mind the temperature. Earth was much hotter during the 300 million years that dinosaurs roamed the planet, and those high temperatures might have been what was necessary to support gigantism. Immediately after Earth cooled down, presumably because of a screen of dust created by a big meteor impact, all the megafauna suddenly disappeared forever. So our cloned beasties just might not be able to live on Earth today, even if we carefully groomed a whole island near the equator just for them. Rats.
