I have not but, great idea! I don't see why you couldn't. I just wouldn't smash too forcefully.

Can you cook a 12" pizza on this? This is a size of the grill area question.

What is the outside diameter of the stove where it mates up with the top cover?

The diameter of the lid (which has a rim that fits outside the stove bottom) is 12 and 3/4 inch, The stove bottom, because of that rim, will be slightly less then that.
