The BEAST of Bowie knives!!
First thing is that this is a beast of a knife!! It’s everything that it’s described as and its looks are very accurate to the advertised knife. Heavy solid blade and sharp too!!! It’s very easy to use and ergonomic to the hand. And the price only seals the deal!!

This is everything it is advertised to be
I am so pleased with this purchase. When I was a young boy I saw a Jim Bowie knife displayed in one of the local stores. I promised myself I would buy one, one day. Today is the day. As soon as it arrived (early) I was so excited that I opened the box right away and I was amazed. This knife is extremely impressive. It has grace but it is substantial. I love the lines, the weight, the feel and the appearance. I will likely mount it somewhere in my office at home, perhaps on the desk so that, from time to time I can hold it. To me it's amazing value. Even the case is substantial, thick leather with a really nice pattern on the leather and the leather is molded to take the thickness of the knife. The leather case does have a strap with a popper to secure the knife in the case. If you wear this outside you are going to get some looks and maybe some comments. Best take it to the woods. Jim Bowie would be proud. The tang is a continuation of the blade and the handle is a grey wood color with brass rivets. I can't stop picking it up. It is a man-size knife for sure, it weighs 1.5 lbs. A great buy!

What an outrageous knife!
I purchased this knife to throw in my bug out bag. I was looking for a tool that would meet more than one need in an emergency situation. I wanted something that could cut and also behave like a hatchet and hopefully a hammer.I've been in situations where I've cut brush to stick under my tires for more traction, had battery cables that need to be trimmed or terminals that need to be tapped on the battery. These activities aren't easy, even with the multitool I carry with me. This knife encompasses all of my needs. But that isn't why I'm giving it five stars. I shouldn't give it such a high rating--there are dings here and there, the edge, well it isn't. The sheath is nothing exciting either. So why five stars? I bought this knife for logical needs. I'd give the knife 3 stars for that alone. But when I opened the box, testosterone kicked in. This blade is GINORMOUS, it isn't gigantic, it isn't enormous, it is both. Pictures do not do justice, not even pics with rulers next to the blade. I couldn't get the grin off of my face. It was like I was in 7th grade again. This isn't a knife, it's a short sword. I've christened mine "Sting". Some of you literary types will get that. So, I experienced the immediate euphoria looking at the knife. But then there was some buyer's remorse. I couldn't imagine hanging this thing on my belt--it's heavy. There is steel from the tip of the blade to the base of the handle and then the brass bits on top make this heavier than some machetes I've held. In the end, I took a hard look at the knife. The workmanship is solid. There aren't any rattles and everything is secure, even after I used the knife as a hammer, hitting the handle on some wood blocks. The bottom line is that I think I got more than my money's worth. Don't buy this knife if you're a collector--you'll be disappointed at the machine marks, etc.

Big Knife came sharp and well built
This is probably a total misuse of the knife, but I bought it to replace another ‘cheap’ Bowie from Winchester to make walking sticks with. I needed a hefty knife so that little twigs can be lopped off with one swift pass while de-barking sticks and the Winchester did a great job at that – until I lost it. So, I set out to find a new knife that will do the job but not bust the budget or break while being used. After reading the reviews here, I settled on the Timber Rattler Western Outlaw Bowie Knife. This sucker is HUGE! I read the measurements, but until you actually see this baby in person, you won’t be able to appreciate its size. Let’s put it this way, it would make Andre The Giant’s hand look normal sized if he ever held this knife. In fact, I would have suggested he use it as a steak knife if he were still around today! Mine was brand new, wrapped up in paper and plastic with a tip protector and stashed away inside a nice looking box that seemed to be factory sealed (with tape) and unopened when it arrived. It comes sharp. Not razor sharp (mine at least) but sharp enough to tear the bark of off some sticks without me having to break out the saw! The sheath is okay. It’s made of some sort of leather or leather material. It has an odd smell to it, but it holds the blade well, so no other complaints from me on that. Overall, I’m pleased with this purchase. If you want a sturdy, big ass knife that’s built to last and to be used roughly, give this knife a good look. If you buy it, I bet you’ll be pleased.

Awesome knife!
The full-tang construction of this knife, measuring at 1/4" thickness of stainless steel, really makes this a solid knife. It has a good weight to it, a decent factory edge, but also doesn't feel as though anything would break (again, thanks to the full-tang construction). I like the size of it and thickness of the handle, as I have big hands (just shy of 8" from middle finger tip to bottom of palm and 3.5" wide along base of four fingers..hopefully this gives some people an idea of the knife's size) I purchased this for my bug-out bag and feel confident it would hold up to whatever I needed it for. The leather sheath is in fact leather, and even though it is a cheaper grade leather, it's not that SUPER cheap stuff that feels like it was made from a rats ass. The cheaper leather is somewhat compensated by using more of it, so it's ~1/8" thick leather. The belt loop is a little thicker than that and the rivets are steel, but brass colored. Side note, the pommel and guard on the knife itself appear to actually be brass, because my magnet will not attach to them. Could be a cheap cast pot-metal, but who knows. Overall, this is an excellent knife for the money, I would recommend. *update 12/8/13* The edge isn't just decent. I didn't think to try this test, but my friend was able to shave his arm hair with it. I merely sliced paper with it, but it did indeed come sharp enough to shave with. Thought people might like to know that!

This is a great budget bowie
This is an excellent bowie knife, it is very affordable, and it a lot of fun. The blade is large at 11-3/8”, 6 mm (.236”) thick, and full tang with a comfortable handle. This knife is very heavy which makes it great for chopping, but it lacks the ability to do any fine cutting without being sharpen. I used the knife for a day, and it worked great, but I sharpened the blade because it bothered me. The sheath quality is questionable. The two biggest issues I had with the sheath is the dye for the leather rubbed off on my pants, and the button on the inside of the sheath can scratch the blade or break the tip. I highly recommend the knife, and would buy another knife, Pro: Full Tang design – The steel from blade runs through the handle Blade size” 11 3/8” long with 6 mm (.236”) thick The choil on the blade is a perfect size for my index finger The fuller (grooves on the blade) looks great but does not balance the blade Large comfortable handle with oversize brass pummel The wood handle and brass pin are fitted very and looks great Con: The blade is stainless steel material, but the grade is not specified Blade is dull, and needs to be sharpened to do fine cutting Brass-plated guard (good size, but the plating may discolor) Sheath needs improvements

Nothing fancy quality has gone down but still a decent knife.
Right out of the box this thing had some issues, quality assurance on these things has never been excellent on these but the newer ones are far from the older models. My knife arrived without any real edge it was so rough and jagged that it couldn’t even cut just sort of tore and ripped at things. This wasn’t a big deal after running it through a work sharp blade sharpener; I will give the knife credit where it’s due this thing once it has an edge will hold it pretty well, the steel is thick and holds up great to any sort of abuse. The handle is relatively comfortable and the brass fittings aren’t terrible they’ll do fine for most uses. As for the sheath this is not gonna hold up for long term it’s a very thin leather and quite frankly just not stiff enough to support a blade of this weight and size. If you’re looking for a good work knife that you can put the hell or high water, this is a good choice just be willing to do a bit of work when you get it.

High Value Chopper
I purchased Four of these knives based on the many positive reviews I read. At first I was dissappointed. Each one had imperfections and knicks in the blade and the handle construction was was not good even for a twenty dollar knife.I got rid of three of them and kept the best of the lot for myself to use for camp wood prep and batoning, after a couple of whacks while batoning the brass guard came loose and rattled,it drove me nuts, but I fixed the problem with some loc-tite.The performance since has been perfect, I have chopped and split literally dozens of trees and logs over the last six months and the factory edge is still intact, the blade still looks as good as it did when I got it and I have beat it to death. The handle is a tad big for my hand because it is square, not round. The performance has far exceeded my expectations and $20 price. The extra weight makes it a fierce chopper also. The 11+ inch blade also helps it excel at batoning. It is 2 inches longer than the Kabar Heavy Bowie, which also is a great batoning tool.I have to say all in all I love this knife and would not hesitate to endorse it. The sheath is not so good but works for me since I keep it in a pack.
