## Description

desertcart.com With a three-inch blade constructed of 440A stainless steel and a handle constructed of 410 stainless steel, Kershaw's Ken Onion Leek folding knife is sleek, indestructible, and razor sharp. Kershaw's flawless assisted opening system, SpeedSafe, assists the user to smoothly open the knife with a manual push on the blade's thumb stud or index-open system. In order to open the knife, the user must apply manual pressure to the thumb stud to overcome the resistance of the torsion bar. After the blade is out of the handle, the torsion bar moves along its track and takes over. The blade opens smoothly and locks into position, ready for use. Measuring four inches long when closed and weighing just 3.1 ounces, this versatile knife includes a limited lifetime warranty.Manufacturer Warranty Limited lifetime warranty About Kershaw Knives Since the company's founding in 1974, Kershaw Knives has been dedicated to quality that has led to a worldwide reputation for performance and innovation in tools and knives. Built for those who value both form and function, the Kershaw Leek is a versatile and reliable folding pocket knife built to assist on any task.

Review: Near perfect EDC - In the photos you can see the Kershaw leek compared to my previous EDC, the SOG Twitch II. I have carried the SOG for 3 years, I absolutely love it, but I decided to look around and see if there were any knives out there that might compete for my pocket. I have looked into the leek for years but hadn’t purchased one until now. So far I really like this knife. It is affordable, the quality and durability seem good so far, and it is RAZOR sharp, it will slice anything. I tested it by slicing through sheets of paper and it made a smooth cut with no tearing. I also easily shaved some hair off my arm. The blade lock is a nice safety feature, so I don’t have to worry about it opening up in my pocket. It opens easily, and very, very quickly. The finish is beautiful. Some reviews mentioned that they had rust show up on their new knife, something I fortunately have not yet encountered. I put a light coat of oil on my knife to give it some protection, just in case. Over all I am very pleased with the Kershaw Leek. If after a few months I am still using the Leek as my EDC, and it’s still in good shape, I plan to buy a black one with a half serrated blade. If I run into any issues I will update this review.
Review: There's no perfect knife, but.. - There is no perfect knife. They're no different than any other tool. You need the right tool for the job, but this one surely checks a lot of boxes. First of all, the knife is very well made from excellent materials. This fact alone nearly warrants the rating. But also, it is easy to open and close, and easy to carry around in your pocket. The blade came from the box sharper than I will ever need and there is VERY little flex in the hinge. The clip works great even though I rarely use it. I just stick it in my pocket. The blade, as mentioned, is very sharp and useful for the various things most people use a pocket knife for. Wood, paper, plastic, etc. But, it is a fairly thin blade. If you tend to use your knife for a screw driver or pry bar often, you may want to choose something else. This blade, while seemingly tough for what it is, is thinner. I would not pry too much with this knife as I think it would be fairly easy to break. (compared to a heavier knife of comparable steel) The blade lock (for when closed) has no detents or other method of keeping it where you put it. I have learned that it may be locked or unlocked when I take it out of my pocket, regardless of how it was when I put it there. This is not a huge deal, as I can't see the blade opening for no reason. It's just something to know. The assist action is very, very good and super easy to get used to using. The design is simple, so it should stay that way for a long, long time. Overall, if you are a "normal" user of a pocket knife, this one makes for a good one, and it's made well enough, it may be your last one!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: where is this knife made?**
A: I've owned 4 or 5 leeks by Kershaw over the past 10 years. A couple I lost/stolen, but either way there was nothing broken or malfunctioning with the fantastic Ben Onion design. But, the last 2 "Kershaw" Leeks I bought from Wal-Mart were different. They didn't have the razor sharp-blade that used to come with the Kershaw Leek out-of-the-box. It could never be duplicated either... no matter what type of sharpening stone, device, or type of stone was used. I can't tell you what had changed, but it was obvious that something had... They just were not the same knife they used to be. What a shame, the Leek by Kershaw couldn't be beat as far as I was concerned. Now I catch myself comparing others to what I remembered Leek to be. None match up, but a handful beat or equal what Kershaw advertise as a "Leek" now.

**Q: I'm interested in the leek but really isn;t the main blade on a slipjoint knife stronger and thicker..Help me decide. slipjoint in 440c or the leek**
A: It really depends on how you intend to use the knife. I use the leek as my EDC and absolutely swear by it for it's convenient size, sharp edge, pointy tip, and decent strength, but my ECD useage is for mostly small jobs (opening packages, cutting through zip ties, etc...). If you're EDC usage is going to be a bit more heavy duty (say you're in construction and will need it daily for big tasks) then you may be better off going with a knife better suited for tougher tasks. You'll want to sacrifice on size/weight for something bigger/heavier to stand up to the usage.

**Q: Should this knife be used to cut chicken, fruits, etc. without rusting?**
A: The blade is made out of Stainless Steel, no rusting with this blade. However, I do not know if the acid from the fruit could damage it, be sure to clean after use, especially to kill bacteria.

**Q: Is this knife legal to carry in Michigan?**
A: Yes, you may find this sight helpful http://www.knifeup.com/michigan-knife-laws/

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great quality! Great design!
*by C***M on July 27, 2015*

This is a great little multi purpose knife. I bought this for my husband based on my dads recommendation. He has one that he carries with him everywhere and uses for just about everything. It is super sharp and can be honed when it gets dull, which probably takes a while, based on the quality feel. This is a great sized knife for everyday use. When folded up the knife is about 4"x1", the perfect size for your pocket or to clip on your belt. I don't usually use pocket knives, but I feel that sometimes when you need a knife quick, its good to have one that opens easily with one hand, but when we first got this knife I thought getting it open with one hand was a little tricky, but it only took a second to feel comfortable with it. I am not "pocket knife savvy", so all knives may be like this -but when this knife is folded up, a small part of the bottom of the blade comes out the back side. If you hold the knife between your thumb and middle finger, you just take your index finger and slide it across that grooved piece in the back side and the blade flips right out. The side of the blade housing then just tilts over to hold the blade securely in place. It does not wobble at all. To fold the blade back up, you simply slide your thumb down that blade housing to move it back over and fold the knife in. The real beauty of this knife aside from the quality look and feel, is its super simple design. No levers or buttons that can get caked with any gunk you may encounter when farming, hunting, or fishing. My husband already loves it!
