I thought it was MK-7 but found out that it was MK-4. Which is fine except you need to take more of MK-4 to get the benefits. They actually also sell a product that has MK-7 written on it. As they told me on the phone, their products are MK-4 unless specifically mentioned on the label. Alfalfa is a source of vitamins A, C, E, and K4; and minerals calcium, potassium, phosphorous, and iron. **Q: Dr recommended 1000 mcg k2, but in reviewing MK-4 and MK-7 I think I need the MK-7. Haven't found it in 1000 mcg. Can you help? The NOW bottle that comes up on Amazon is not 1000, it is 100 mcg.** A: Just finished reading about vitamin K and all the different types from 'Vitamin K2 and the Calcium Paradox'. Excellent book I must say. Your doctor must have been refering to MK-4 version of Vitamin K2 which has a half life of 1 hour i.e. you have 1/2 of amoun ingested after 1 hour, so you definitely need a lot. The MK-7 version of vitamin K2 has a much longer half life and hence you don't need as much. However, the information provided was quite accurate. I am not a vitamin gobbler. I take a set of them from Liposomal , to coral calcium, fish oil, MVI, CoQ10, and others on the average of twice a week. As a research RN I do not want to replace the body functions of absorbing vitamins and minerals from the food I eat at my 80 years of youth, just give the body a slight boost in case. This way I have been able to actually keep my 3 cardiac meds to the lowest doses, stop taking statins completely, and with continued daily exercising, like 2+ mile walks a day at a good pace, treadmill walks and medium weight lifting/curls, a diet consisting of only two meals a day, and managing sugar intake with more quality snacks like mixed nuts, etc. I have had no problems with this product at the low dosage. Since I take supplements to replace "chemical" medications, I am wary of over dosing and wasting good money. The vitamin content is quite adequate, per the pharmacological literature I have read.
