Twist Erase CLICK Mechanical Pencil, Pack of 12, (0.5mm), Clear Barrel, Black Grip, Box of 12 (PD275TA)

I've used a lot of mechanical pencils over the last 15 years, and these are among my favorites. Easy and comfortable to hold, simple thumb-level click button makes extracting lead quick and painless, and a variety of colors and sizes including my favorite 0.5mm. This model has a deep eraser bit too, unlike many others who's eraser bit is no longer than a centimeter (or simply do not have one to begin with). In contrast, this mechanical pencil has about 2.5 centimeters of eraser, lasting much longer before requiring a refill. I would say the only problem I've had with these pencils is how the eraser part does not lock. The mechanism extends more eraser by a twist-rim but it's loose and rotates back into itself often. ( This proves to be a considerable defect of the design for picky pencil users. Perhaps adding a locking mechanism or different design entirely for extending the eraser to prevent it going back in on itself would help. I still prefer it for the long length though, that's a huge plus! ) All in all, the design is strong, easily refillable and rarely breaks the lead inside! Unlike many other mechanical pencil models which appear stronger and are encased in far more durable materials.

I have used pencils like these since my college days so I am quite attached to them. The design has evolved for the better over the last 15+ years to what it is today. I like the twist up eraser feature. That twist up feature didn't exist when I first starting buying these types of pencils. The old design had an eraser that (from a foggy memory) was about 1/3 to 1/4 of the size of the current eraser and if memory serves me correctly, the way it was mounted was in such a way that you could not use it all and you had to buy and replace them more often because they weren't as long. There is also something to be said for not needing to sharpen it, deal with the waste, and deal with thickness issues (when you write with a standard pencil, the tip wears and the width of the lines/markings become wider and wider until it's time to re-sharpen. The price point on these also seemed to be excellent from what I have seen elsewhere - but you do have to buy them 12 at a time which means, I'll probably never need another one before the day I die and I'm not that old. I have never had one break. However, I have lost a few.

Pentel's Twist Erase lead pencils are the only mechanical pencils I use. I've never had a pencil break on me before (I just tend to lose them) and the design of the pencil makes it easy and comfortable to hold for long periods of time. A pack of two at any regular store can be pricey, so this box of 12 (that will probably last me a lifetime) at an inexpensive price just made my day.

With four kids in school (two of them in college), we go through a lot of pencils in my home. We love the convenience of mechanical ones but have struggled to find ones that checked all the boxes. These do that! Now I need to find additional erasers so we can replace those as needed, too. Great product!

By far the best mechanical pencil out there. It has a massive eraser, excellent ergonomics, and great design. The side clicker saves time and is easier to use than a top clicker. When using this, I compare it to my previous favorite pencil, the Pentel SideFX. This pencil is almost identical in terms of features, but the main difference is it is slimmer and round instead of big and hexagonal. I also find the grip to be much grippier.

Big eraser, side click, and 0.5mm is almost perfect. Really wish they didn't have a grip or that they made a version without, but couldn't find a side click pencil with an eraser without a grip anywhere. If it didn't have the grip it'd be a 4.5/5. 0.5 off is because the black color is black and clear, not the black shown in most of the pictures. Edit - lowering rating by 1 star because in under 24 hours grip has already picked up dust or fuzzies. It literally adds no comfort benefit and picks up dirt, not sure why anyone would pick this design over a gripless one other than this is the only version that exists.

The image does not correspond to the mechanical pencils I got. In the image we see the old mechanical pencils , with the transparent body and black grip. I received the ones that are all black, the newer model. I would not recommend buying this and would suggest the image to be changed to the real correspondent mechanical pencil that is being bought by amazon customers.
