SportRackFolding Kayak Carrier (SR5513) , Black

I've had these racks for a few months now and used them to transport my 70 lb, 11-foot sit-on-top fishing kayak over 1,000 miles during a recent road trip. They are very easy to install (takes about 10 minutes the first time, and 5 minutes thereafter -- because you don't fully dis-assemble after the first use). Overall, I couldn't be more pleased -- especially for the price. Now, with that said, I know the hardware is not stainless steel, and the frames are just low-end powder-coated steel. So these will eventually rust, I'd imagine. But honestly, unless you just like overpaying for things, I can't imagine why you'd spend triple the price of these to get a name-brand rack. Unless you're kayaking constantly, these should hold up well for years to come.

They do a good job of transporting your kayak. They appear "solid". It is easy to adjust the vertical arm to upright; or, to fold flat when not in use. They are uncomplicated in their attachment to your existing roof rack; and, with different length supplied bolts, they should fit almost any roof rack. A few common sense things to keep in mind: if your vehicle has a high roof; and, you have a heavy kayak, it is a stretch (literally) to load your yak. Also, because the kayaks are carried upright, you need to able to reach high enough to flip the kayaks past vertical towards centerline.

The rack is great; I used it to replace a set of Thule J hooks that don't fold down. It is easy to install and solid on my Yakima bars. But...the straps are an accident waiting to happen. I loaded the boats for a 3 hour trip and one of the straps was half-way torn through by the time I reached my destination. I discarded the companion strap and used an old set for the return trip.

Last summer I bought 2 kayaks but only purchased 1 SportRack kayak carrier. why? call it a test, I wanted to test one before investing in another. Well, it fit to the SportRack roof rack perfectly. The carrier is very solid and secures the kayak as it should with zero issues.I just purchased a second one, at an even better price and though I haven't used it yet, because it's January in Washington state, but I expect it to work as well as the first one.

Sport Rack SR5513 Folding Kayak Carrier while the price is right and it does the job the folding down adjuster do not work well at all and are diffcult to use and the u-bolts are quite flimsy.

I want to answer the question I couldn't get an answer to. This item fits on a thule aeroblade setup.

Arrived quickly. The hinge of the J is very good.I don't like the anchors. They don't grip the crossbars as well as the Thule J.

The Rack worked out well, I was very pleased. They said USED, I think I would have termed it 'Open Box'. It had never been used. Glad I found a great bargain. Shipping, delivery, etc. was just excellent. Anthony.

I Like the adjustable angle possibility but the screw under the the rack to the car roof bars are a little to tiny in my mind.

Excellent for transporting my kayak around, easy to install, use, and take down after use. Sturdy kayak rack, well-made, solid, great addition to my outdoor toys.

Great product. Easy to install, very secure. Should fit any square, round or factory installed rack without problem.
