A comfortable classic
It is a little bit rough / scratchy. You use a sheet under it and then it is no problem. The blanket is real luxury it is warm and classy. My wife sleeps "hot" and was worried about being too warm, but she says it seems to somehow regulate the heat. Best of all it breathes, no more sweating at night.

The Name makes the difference
I am not one to write negative reviews , and because of EVERY review giving this blanket such high marks, I stepped out of my box and bought this VERY EXPENSIVE BLANKET.THERE ARE TWO PROS to this blanket ONLY....color and warmthThe CONS, ...price for the NAME ONLYScratchy itchy material, and NO border stitching.I was born in the North, and have been loyal to Fairibault Woolen Mills for years, and own many of their Frontier/ Revival wool blankets.I Placed them side by side.Thickness, sameSoftness ...hands down FairibaultWarmth, bothHeaviness, Fairibault with thick tight, full weave and total blanket edging.I can place the blanket against my face , but not the Hudson Bay.In THIS CASE, you pay HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS MORE for the Name, and where it was made.I don’t return items I normally buy, but I am on the fence with this one.It also took me forever to find it since Canada doesn’t sell to the US right now.I should have went with my instincts.

Not Worth the Cost
I paid the very high price for this blanket based on statements about how warm it is, warm enough for explorers in the wild. It is a fine wool blanket, but it is not even close to the warmth of a down comforter. I also had an alpaca blanket of similar size that was much warmer, which is what I expected from the description. It's about the same warmth as a heavy synthetic blanket I have that was less than 1/4 the cost, and which I can launder in my washing machine and drier.

I like it
The blanket is colorful, warm and large enough to completely cover our California King size bed. My wife, who usually shuns wool, loves it .

Put it in your will. A Hudson's Bay blanket will "outlive" you.
I bought a 6-pt. Hudson's Bay blanket (scarlet w. black stripes) in a northern Minnesota trading post store when an Amazon was either a region in Brazil or a mythological female Greek warrior. Jeff Bezos was 13 years old and unknown. I have the blanket today; it's on my bed. It will never wear out. Okay, maybe it will wear out someday, but not in my lifetime. If you invest in a genuine Hudson's Bay blanket, it will become an heirloom. You will have to decide which of your heirs it will go to. Now turn off the light, pull up the blanket and get back to sleep!

yes I took a chance and washed the blanket in Cool water and woolite
quality, very expensive, but this blanket is a lifetime investment. do not dry clean this blanket. I made this mistake. when it came back the blanket was brittle. it felt that all the natural lanolin was gone. yes I took a chance and washed the blanket in Cool water and woolite., hung the blanket outside. it took about 3 hours for it to dry. I put the machine on delicate cycle. happy I bought it
